    Hello everyone !!
Been hanging out in the shadows of this thread for a few months and now that I'm all caught up from page 1 to present I'd like to say that this is what it's all about ! I'm still blown away that a lot of people still care about this stuff!! I'm here in San Diego , born here , been to most of the tracks with in a 200+ mile radius of here at least a dozen times ( roundy rounds' drag strips and the road courses ) I really look forward to this when I get home from work ! thank you !

The former promoter at Lawrencburg Speedway.. DO any of you guys have ANY pictures of him? Good face shot is what I need for a memorial shirt I've been hired to do.

    Thanks you!

    J Shaw..

Oh, also.. went to Pole day at Indy at the last minute. Made a phone call to Harley Gene to see if he had any suggestions on where to sit. He said, Yeap, call me when you get there"...

Well, he got us kinda close to the action!

    THANKS GENE!!

Just talked to Don Thomas on the phone. He is in Oklahoma on his way to the 40th Tony Hulman Classic at Terra Haute On Thursday night. There will be some type of reunion. Don was invited by Duke Cook. If any of you have a chance to go stop by and say hi to Don, a real nice guy and he did do the deal in the day!!! If one of you can take a photo, so I can put it in my scrapbook.

    Racer5c,
Your Dads car is the "baby bowes"car? The last owner was Al Hendrix in Ca. The car was wrecked and sat beside his building for decades before being discarded. About 8 years ago it was reproduced and is currently in N.Y.
Does anyone know where Larry Phitz can get a wheel [Novi] like the one on the LF in the photo?

  13. Al, great pic. I have wonderful memories of this car. One night @ Reading, I offered to help Ziggy, he handed me a bottle of polish & a rag. Oh well, it shined for a while.
I will always remember the yellow #22,
    mlight9.

The wheel Pfitz would like, Novi, is for the Stapp sprinter. As in the photo of Snider, that left front wheel shows up on pictures through out the history of the car.

Just read on ASCS web site that sprint car driver Jesse Hockett died today, electrocuted in his shop. R.I.P. Jesse. Way to soon.

Yeah, BS-N-SC... that's true. I got the call a min ago. All there saying is that he was killed in a "Freak electrical accident" while loading his spinter for Terre Hautte tomorrow. Bad deal.

God Speed Jesse, you were a gasser!

Here is a video of him surviving a violent flip at Bloomington, then an interview with him about it at the end.

    Thanks for the pics Roy!

Sorry to hear about Hockett. After surviving that crash pretty much unscathed then going out like that. What a shame.
