I have to ask you F~Series truck guys about a Power Steeing Box for my F-350 Dually Project.

    I have a '55 F-350 Dually i am converting to 1 Ton 4 Wheel Drive With Dana 60 & 70 axles.

No room out front for the Steering Box from my Doner Truck so.... I ask the Question.

Is there a Box that will fit in the Original Location, Use a Drag Link. & be POWER to turn this Heavy Toad.

Adapting is not a Problem, Just looking for a Tried & True box.

Guys used to use Toyota 4WD Power box's in the Stock location on F-100's, But its been So Long since i have even Considered Power stuff i have lost touch with this sort of swap.

So... Any One have any ideas ?

I would talk shit to you about "power steering" but I will just leave you alone, old timer..... Need a tilt wheel and power seat too???? Still got a 55 Ford back window for you...

  4. The bigger series '53-'56 used a separate slave ram to assist the drag link, similar to the '60s Corvette system. I believe that MidFifty carries this setup, but the online catalog is missing the steering pages. They offer the Toyota setup as well but as Von said it may not work on the F350...not sure. Might be worth getting a catalog. https://midfifty.com/

I Hear ya, I would NEVER consider Power Steering Swap in anything but with this Monster I may NEED it to wheel it around.

No Tilt or Power seat, Will run the Stock Ford Column & Stock Seat .. Thank You !

I will try it with the Stock Box first & see what happens but if that don't work out I will need to fall back on somthing.

A power assist wont work, i have a DANA 60 Ford 4x4 Van Axle in front and the Assist just won't fit.

I was gonna suggest the Toy also but not sure about the F350 compatibility. I know some guys that dont want the power steering use a box from a F600 or maybe 800 that is supposed to work really good for the half tons.

Im running saginaw cross steer, but dont know if it is heavy enough. Try the FTE site a lot of them work with the larger trucks.

The 53-56 f100 boxes through f-600 boxes will bolt in the same holes on the frame.

This I Know, If a decent swap for a P/S box don't Pan out i'll look for a Bigger F-600 Box, Maybe I'll Find it attached to a truck with the Factory WIDE Front Fenders :D

I think the Toyota Box will be a Bit Meager, Will be running a 460 Ford & Truck 4spd

69 or so International used a 805 Saginaw box that was turned on it's side for drag link steering. It was set up with a straight axle. I believe it was a 1300 series. I used one on a 62 Ford F250 with 4x4 and it worked good.

I wouldnt call the Toyoya boxes meager they are pretty heavy duty for a box out of a small truck and get alot of abuse from the 4x4 guys. The power units are harder to find but I think they would hold up fine.
