Hot Rods whats this 34 worth

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ratster, May 24, 2010.

  1. i sold one in much rougher shape for 13,500, it all depends on the condition up close not from a photo, having said that 16,500 to 18,500 is my guess on what would be fair..
but we all know it depends on the size of your wallet and how badly you want it. dave

10 to 12 k,,, it will take that again to get the body right and that is just the body, so you are in the 20,000 range allready, add chassis running gear etc. and you might be running for 40k depending on if you do it yourself or not. i could be driving it for 20k or less if i could get what is there for 10k or less.

The seller should put a Bugatti emblem on it and make up some bs story about it's history. If the rusted to hell one mentioned in another thread got 250,000 pounds, then it could fetch 2.5 million. Seroiusly though, the 34 is worth whatever the highest bidder forks over. Probably too much.

Those seats look like they came out of an '89 Astro van or something like that. 30 years of storage seems like mis-information to me.

Still though, some of you guys, 3 grand? You could probably get that for the doors. That car would bring an easy 15K, even assuming the worst about build quality and hidden damage.

Here's a challenge that unfortunately will never be addressed. How many of you who threw out the $15-$30,000 offers/guesses ACTUALLY have that in CASH? Go and get the money, spread it out, take a picture and post it. Great way to seperate the BULL SHIT from the facts. I'm betting we'll see 0 pictures................ready to be proven wrong.

I'm with fab 32...and to be perfectly honest, I probably can't afford it, but you never know.... If I had put up pictures of the 55 I bought last summer, before I bought it, it would have been pretty funny to hear the responses...I'm sure I couldn't afford some of the "HAMB" prices.....

The bottom line is, until you settle on a price with an owner that is ready to sell, you just don't know what it will take to buy a car.....

BTW, I bought a 1955 chevy 2 door hardtop for $6500....the Craigslist asking price was $13,000.................it's amazing what real cash on the table will do

Where did you get a picture of Jimmy Hoffa with all of that cash piled up on top of him? Remember he was fat so I'm guessing you're still a couple of thousand short.
BTW, if you manage to get it i'll be right up and get that raggedy '34 out of your way so you won't have to leave it out in the weather.

  18. Does it really matter? He isn't looking for a buyer, just asking what it is worth. Just because a guy does not have the $$$ don't mean his opinion is worthless. I don't have 25K laying around...so my opinion must be worthless?

The garnish moldings go for a bit less than that!

My 33 body was purchased for $3k about 12 years ago. My dad actually paid for it without even asking me and said "pay me back when you can". I thought he was on crack paying that for it, but 12 years later all I can say is "god bless ya dad!".

right on chris, you dont have to have alot of money to know the facts, or to have a valid opinion on things that cost alot of money. 32/33/34 ford stuff is through the roof, and some of the prices they are throwing out ($1500-$3000)would barely buy a set of nice 33/34 doors.

  23. Either you forgot a zero or you proved my point that there'd be some insanely low offers of price on here.

What the fuck does having the money to buy or sell have to do with being able to see plain as day what particular cars are selling for, or have for asking prices in their advertising? I don't need to have money to be able to read and remember things. Next you'll be telling us you need a lawnmower to know that grass is green and needs to be cut once in a while.

Getting so WIW threads you can sit down with the popcorn on, too ....

i have had a few offers for mine that are considerably more than that. if you were to locate them one at a time, here and there, you might be able to get them for that. but, a complete set? i think a seller could get more like $2500.

and i think today's actual sellable value is around 18-25k. if times were better, it would certainly be more.

it's all sort of moot when the car isn't for sale anyway, and doesn't belong to him to start with.

but to get a gauge for what things are worth, these threads might be helpful if they weren't so full of piss and vinegar.

Except; It's my un-educated guess that most 'what's it worth?' threads are veiled ads for sale. "The old guy is loaded and don't really want to sell it". Ha
