Matt, You are doing a great job. What a shame to cover all that up with a body. I think I would like to buy this one back? Bill
Yeah! Everything is lookin' GREAT! Question: (sorry if I missed this somewhere) what material are those brake lines?? They don't look like steel or stainless steel? Is it just the lighting or are they something else?
its a nickle/copper tubing made for brake lines...i work at an autoparts store and we order it in...its not cheap but it is the nicest line i have ever used...flares very easy and perfect every time.
Looks great, but...wasn't I just reading bad things about the clear red fuel tubing? Period, yes...reliable, no.
First off, I must say that Matt is one of the most patient poeple I've met. After putting his A in the corner to finish up the Pearl Necklace, we got back on it pretty good and I finally have some progress to post. The body is close, its not great but its not too far off either. I'll have the doors, cowl, and decklid in prime tomorrow and start blocking this week. I'm hoping to have the body ready for paint in 2 weeks so I can sling some black on it.
If Chris Casney built the nicest Model A in 2009 then Tindal is certainly looking like a shoe in for 2010!!!!! That fucking engine is insane!!!!!!
That motor looks really great, I'm just wondering what the thought process was for using the exhaust manifolds instead of the headers. I remember when you built those cool headers, I'm not critical in any way as the motor is really killer looking, just wondering? Norm
this was the first time the motor was fired up so i ran it through some mufflers so we could hear if there was anything wrong.... also im gonna keep the manifolds on for a while till i get all the bugs worked out in the motor...
Thanks, keeping it quiet for a while to listen for problems is a good idea. Gotta remember that one for the future . Norm
Fantastic build! Thanks for the updates and can't wait for more.... I see you dropped the Muncie idea in favor of a T-5. What was your reasoning and what model T-5 are you running? Tommy
I wanted to run an overdrive trans...and have a 3.90 rear end. Also the shifter location on the t-5 is ideal... its a s10 tailshaft with v8 gears
Good reasoning. I'm considering a T-5 myself which is why I was curious what setup you used. The S10 tailshaft makes sense.
wow. great build kid. You've got talent and taste. If I was building in a later period. Your car is exactly what I would build.
Paint Sunday! Just finished tying up some loose ends and ringing Matt's phone off the hook. Lookin good boss!
Done! Gotta finish painting some small pieces this week, visor, grill shell, etc. Then well start cutting and buffing next wknd.
this is really good stuff. im super impressed, and not to sound like a dick, but was shocked to read that your only 16. this is amazing. i hope to get the chance to see this car in person someday and shake your hand.
very cool build. I have a 30 full fender Tudor that is getting a 409/superT10. Any details on teh buildup of the motor? I assume the t5 is a WC, I would think it wil handle the 409, especially with the skinny tires, they should go up in smoke before you hurt the trans. I have a '53 chevy truck with a pretty nasty blown GMC 270 with a WC behind it, did the same thing, v8 close ratio gearing and a S10 rear housing. put a shim on the tailshaft to install the gear so I can run an old mechanical speedo.
