Doing some research on hood ornaments, for artistic purposes. If anyone has some photos of ordinary, odd, rare or WTF hood ornaments I would LOVE to see some pictures. Please indicate what year/make/model they were for if possible... I will probably steal photos, just sayin'.

    (radiator caps, too!)

If you ever get a chance to see the Nethercutt Collection, do it. It's the world's largest collection of "Mascots".

Pontiac had some cool ones, as they morphed from an Indian into a jet plane!

Every time I see a 34 Greyhound, I think about the 34 that Posie built in the 80s. A real nice resto-rod that was the style then. He hooked up a windshield washer pump by remote control and made the dog piss on the spectators through a tiny tube between the dogs hind legs as they walked by.

Guiseart Mid 30's Pontiac sedan if I remember right. Taken about 10-12 years ago so the memory is getting a little foggy. Glad you like it. Post a picture of your work when done.

I agree. It's worth going just to see that part of the collection.

  22. If you're considering whittling some up from scratch think about one of these only small enough to put on a car. The one currently available is for big rigs.

J.C. Whitney used to have some wacky ones in their catalog some years ago, they may even have a website now, if they're still in business, I don't know.

Haha, he still talks about that every now and then lol. When he first told me that story he was laughing pretty hard trying to get all the details out. He has a collection of odd and rare eblems/hood ornaments. For instance, the Speed Queen had emblems on it from a 50s or 60s era washing machine he found somewhere. They fit that car perfectly.
