As hard as I look, I don't see a Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Hmmm, wonder why?

People rag on the 70's but I loved them. This pic is reason #1.

Harry Stevinson of Bashaw, Alberta took a junked model T Ford (top speed 45 MPH) after building the body it went 70 MPH. The fuel economy also went from 25 miles per gallon to 38 mpg.

Amen to that. My hippie chick is knocking on 55 now, but still has the hippie mentality. Makes me smile just thinking about it. :)

I have enjoyed this thread almost as much as a really good build thread! It has sent me off in search of local San Francisco history, and I'v found a lot, some of which is auto related that I'll post over the next little while. By way of credits I'll have to thank the San Francisco Public Library Photo Archive for this group of shots.
First up... Chevy dealership on Geary and Van Ness Ave. from 04/18/23. Why there is no signage I don't have a clue. There was a bike shop in there for years, don't know whats there now, but I believe the building still stands.

This is an oddball shot to be in the SF archive... this building is in Oakland and is best known to me as Broadway Ford. It's an Audi dealership now. Dated .05/10/33

These 2 shots are from an SF Willis/Knight/Overland dealer. No location was given, but I suspect it is also on Van Ness Ave. Date 03/21/28

This building is currently a Toyota dealer at Van Ness and Sacto. One of two or three left that has no ramps to drive cars to the upper floors. They are shipped up,and down on an elevator. Date 04/24/29

Berl Berry Ford pre dates me by a long shot. The young lady was Miss Cotton Queen or something, and given a new 'vert to cruise around in while in 'da City. 10/15/53

Last one for Today. This building was still standing at Geary and Divisadero when I first got here, but was torn down shortly after that. Years later I worked for Boas at Market and Van Ness. It was a shock to me to see the dance floor of what was once the Carousel Ball Room, and then later the Fillmore West, covered up in early 80's Pontiacs.

  22. I posted this a while back, but Berl Berry had a Lincoln/Mercury store in KC back in 1952:

How many multi-state ownership deals were there back in the day?

I had never herd of Berl Berry until this photo popped up. So as far as multi state dealers... don't know. Also... in my hasty post I made several mistakes. The building mistakenly ID'ed at the current Toyota dealer in post # 5157 is not. It IS the building with the Berl Barrey Ford signage. And the date should have been 1950.
