somebody asked how to do this..
how to get it on straight..
    this is dark over light...
but you can do light over dark..
you can paint outside the solid friskit (circle)
or you can do a hole..and paint inside the frisket circle.
in this style..base is already on..the dark color was shot around half of a circle..then i pealed teh next one off..then dark around half the circle..repeat on and on..
starting at the back of the car...and painting the rear/back of the circle.
and moving toward the front..removing the fiskets as i go.

    this was the exact opposite..
i used a large frisket with a whole in it ...instead of scales..i got a lattice pattern
by butting the circles just up against each other ..but bearly touching..
its hard to see with the frosted tape...in white over it.
this is base jade green (body color) with house of color ..electric blue sprayed inside the circle...
with the gun set to shoot a narrow round spray..not a flat fan..
i shot only around the perimeter of the frisket..
    it came out like lattice..
    fwiw...
gotta do a big panel down the sides ...some day..

    this isnt old school...
but its over chrome...i wanted to see more of a rainbow trout scale..
    so i used multiple colors.
    fwiw..

    ps..
cant find a pic of it after clear...which made it jump out much better
    fwiw.

Here is a little car I did for my cousins kid. Sprayed it gold, masked off the flames and sprayed em silver then cleared it. Wet sanded that down, masked off the top then did 6 coats of HOK oriental blue candy, reversed the masking and did the HOK organic green candy then cleared again. Wet sanded that, had it striped, then did the grill blackout, taillights red candy and reverse lights white pearl then cleared for the last time. I painted it in the garage and all the neighbors thought I was crazy for doing all this for a 2 year old. It was fun. Gotta get me some flake to play with now!

My Mustang was first painted in 1971 pearl white with candy red and blue and just the opposite on the other side

I repainted it in my shop in 2004 close to the way it was raced in the 70's I like red so I changed that to the drivers side

I agree but they don't make a 10" with the right back space or 3 1/2" front.
