So it is. Talked to my brother today, he did call the one in his yard a Lighthouse. He pointed out the differances, still kinda surprising how simular they are for being different manufactures, interiors look almost exactly the same to me. Forgot where he said they found the Lighthouse. He also asked if I'm up for a road trip to Ohio, somehow I think you might be getting a call.
A friend sent me an email with pics and story of this 37 Ford Housecar,it said ford produced 6 of these at the ford plant in St. Paul Mn., thought it was kinda neat
A buddy of mine and his wife picked up a '66 Streamline Travel Coach (the company that later became Newell) for $900 this past summer. Has a 390 Ford and C6 in it, not too sure that it's original, but was FE powered new. All polished aluminum outside with a gold anodized spear running nearly the entire 30' of the body. It needs some restoration inside, but completely driveable and insanely cool to look at. Sadly, he passed away last month, she's determined to get it lookin' pretty again.
A LOT of work went into that Grumman! Alum. body? What kind of powerplant? I contemplated rebuilding one out of an old shell like the Newell above, or an old Dodge Travco w/ diesel power, but could see quickly that just modifying the drivetrain was only a small part of a small fortune to refurb. the interior, plumbing systems, and body. However, I don't need any more diversions, either, so its back to my long term project, (and our regular programming.)
Yeah, aluminum body, and pretty darn straight too, have to do a little body work before paint. Luckily, I paint! It has a 292 I6, a GM 4 spd manual and probably the slowest axle ratio available, 6.17:1 if I have read the spec sheets right. Cruises at about 58mph@3Krpm, had it up to 63mph once! I think I have passed 5 vehicles with it in the past year, and one was only because they blew a tire...!
Never seen one before, but if it had fold-up wings, a rear-mounted radial engine (ala air boat) instead of a prop. and a steerable chassis it would be the ultimate post-disaster mobile! Gary
just picked this one up,, its a 1950 price anyone know any info on a price ? i cant find anything ..............check out that plate

I have two of these rare Ranger fiberglass pop up trailers. Just need an old Ford to tow them with now.
My brother finally found a clean wagon to mount his rare "Tote Motel" to although he really wanted a lttle earlier (mid 60's) wagon. The Tote is a 64 model. Says it drives much better then he thought it would, looks like it would be very top/ tail heavy. Now he just needs to freshen up the paint on the camper.
No pic but I have a 1968 Golden Falcon 17 foot travel trailer I bought a few years ago.Seems I am the only registered owner ever since new! It was bought new and barged down Georgian Bay and used as a guest cabin at a cottage. Less than a thousand miles on it yet.....
My GMC Bubba built teardrop behind my roadster - taken in my driveway this morning: (sorry for the poor quality quick cell phone pic)
I love the old canned ham shaped ones. Been looking for a good candidate for about three years. The frustrating part is a guy three blocks from me has one (rare brand) the perfect size and shape with wheel wells that match my '56 Chev's. He's not doing anything with it, and isn't ready to let it go, either. Oh well... I'll keep looking for a '58-61 shasta in the meantime... Scott/Gotta56forme
