I ran out to the transfer station today and always wanted to know the dry weight of the Diamond. More than I expected.... 2816 lbs.....or for you Metric cats....1280 kg. Damn iron head hemis.....
Jeff; Did you ever get in touch with the original builder of the truck? Did you get any information from those that knew him? Dave J. in Victoria, BC
I have a Crosley engine that I will be glad to swap for that old iron head hemi to help with your weight loss.
Jeff That seems a bit heavy. But it is a steel cab and I imagine that the frame is beefed up to support the hemi?? My roadster weighs 2308 full of fuel. Only 8 more lbs on the right verses the left. Front to back is within 10lbs
Jeff I saw at waterdown you changed the wheel tire combo, it looks good. I was gonna stop by and say hi, but you had a crowd around it everytime I passed by.
Fuzzy... yea .steel cab....and a very HD frame....but if i was a betting man..i would have said around 2500 lbs..... I was always curious... but maybe the transfer station has rigged the scales to get more money ha ha ha It was something i always wanted to know.
... interesting... I dunno why..but I am fascinated by this whole weight deal...i remember reading all about weight aspects and power to weight ratios on muscle cars from looking back in 60's performance mags...when they did a breakdown on a revue of a ... lets say new roadrunner or chevelle....but on hotrods not so much.
The '48 Plym, my self, about a weeks worth of traveling gear, and fuel weighs 3188#. But the weight balance is 45/55. Petty damn cool way to amuse yourself in the middle of the night several hundred miles away from home... weighing the car that is.
DAMN JEFF...before i saw your biamond P/U. I thaught you had gone BONKER'S, or went to work for the CIRCUS! HA!...POP.
There was an article in one of the hot rod mags in the late 80's if i remember right. They took a full size caddy and ran it down the 1/4 mile in stock trim and recorded the best time. They then preceded to remove weight abit at a time and make more runs recording the times. They eventually got down to just the sub structure with no roof doors trunk etc, and got to the point where areodinamics/safety was a concern but they took almost 4 seconds off the clock and i think almost 2000 lbs.
I was going to but you had a crowd, didnt want to bother you. When I came back later you were gone. But that was a hell of a turnout there on the saturday...I cant remember seeing so many cars there.
Well at least I know what my '32 needs to come in under when it's finished to dust your ass at Lancaster (Dunn Tire) speedway. Who am I kidding, that thing is going to make me curl into a fetal position.
HA HA...we can benchrace and tell lies!! hahah If you lose anymore Danny and turn sideways..I ain't gonna see you! great stuff pal..congrats!!
Wow... perfect in so many ways. I'm afraid to weigh mine, but it is always something I felt you needed to do to your ride. Luckily, I can't find a scale close! Gary
I wouldnt have thought it would weigh that much..guess maybe i under estimated my Tudor's weight too..guess i will see when im done sweet truck man
