I finally got my car in order. The grill and all trim is in as well as the motor. I still think the 1940 chevy is the best street rod body.
After seeing Cleatus' car, I really wouldn't be able to build one any way except as a custom. What a beautiful car!
Here is my '40 Chevy. It has a 500 Cadillac Eldorado engine that has been cammed up a bit and it is backed by a turbo 400 with a 79 Trans Am rear end. It was a factory straight axle car, but someone did a nice job welding in a mustang 2 front end, so we finished up the steering and just went with that for now. I would like to see a straight axle back in it someday.
The only good lookin 40 Chev I have ever seen. A real cl***y lookin car. I got to take a look at it in Santa Maria this year the detail is amazing!! The way the door mates to the dash... Man That is THE high watter mark for a 40 chev.
This belongs to a buddy of mine over here On Jaguar IFS with an inline six. Drives like a dream!! (And the wheels are more of a burgandy colour now)
Barry is that car bagged? In the picture it looks like the front tires are awfull close to the fenders. Nice car.
I know it's not a coupe but it's a 40 chevy. It's the only picture I have on this computer. Last winter I started it and ran it for a little while.... Just drove it to work tonight. Jeff
My favorite.."Mr. Irish" 40 Chevy G***er..This car sat around the corner from where I grew up in the 70's..As a young kid I always dreamed of owning it someday..The car still exists today, its now a streetrod in the Philly area..
Hi, Here is my jewel. I also agree, it is one of the nicest hot-rod body styles around! This beauty was built 23 years ago............NO, not by me. I have only owned it for a few months. My '30 Model A is taking me a long time to build so we had to have something to enjoy now. LG, Mike
Last of the old Chevys with running boards! I had one right out of hi school in 1968 that we dropped a mid 50's truck straight axle into and a 413 Mopar with torqueflite. Wish I'd kept it!
just found this and had to buy it! its almost complete but parts inside car. Need running boards if anyone can help me out with a contact. anyone in the n.california area recognize it??
That does not look bad. The parts that are missing are the ones you want to replace anyway. There is a chevy dealer in your area that specializes in the car especially the trim parts they are called I and I repoductions
New guy here. This is the 1940 coupe i picked up about a month ago. it was done in the 70's and I almost have it to the point where I can drive it.
