I remember walking up to the gate at the Hot Rod Cinematic and showing Ryan the HAMB on the iPhone, it was the day after they came out. He was stoked to say the least. Now the iPad. I keep telling myself I do not need one...

  4. I'm using mine right now. My only problem is that the pictures don't pop up like on my desktop. I have to use the 2 finger zoom.

OR you can just work on your car/truck instead and get things done. i heart Macs but the Ipad doesn't do it for me.

I dread the fact that I will get one... I only get on three things any more, the H.A.M.B. my email and... ok two things. An Ipad will make that way to easy since my Droid already does on small scale. more driving time too, maybe it won't be so bad.

Got my 64G/3G ipad last week. Awesome doesn't describe it! I justified it by telling myself that I could leave my laptop at home when we're traveling. I've got the hAMB and HAMB OLD FARTS bookmarked.

I usually read the HAMB on my iphone at lunch. I hold it in my left hand, and eat with my right hand. Unfortunately I seem to always be hitting the link to poster's profiles rather than the link to the thread. A bunch of people probably think I'm stalking them or something after seeing me listed as a visitor to their profile...

A mobile phone optimized site would be great, but probably isn't worth the trouble and expense.

Google are working on a droid-pad.... I'm waiting for one of them, because I've usually got a laptop with me, and up until now I've been adamant that I will never have a use for an ipad or anything like it... But I'm sure I'll see the error of my ways one day... (Once I stop spending money on camera bits and car bits, that is)

Using the Ipad while driving is way more tricky than texting.

I've often thought about approaching Ryan about an iPad/iPhone app for the HAMB. Something that's basically web content surrounded by a "frame" that looks like an app - but figured folks have bothered him enough about it.

One day soon, folks will have a PDF of a manual and be using not only the iPhone/iPad as a flashlight to work by, but they can glance over to it and have the manual ready.

Even I'm guilty of that one. LOL!

Just wrap it in one of those screen protectors, and wipe it down when you're done getting it too dirty! LOL!

I know quite a few guys who have an old laptop in the shed on a wireless connection to look up stuff when they get stuck... :)

There's a thread somewhere where it was discussed for the iPhone... would be close to the same, the SDK's allow development for both at the same time.

iPod touch does the job for me and is uber handy in the garage quickly looking up torque specs for stuff when I have no manual. Or ideas and inspiration. Just need a wireless signal to pirate.

Agree'd. I spend all day (at work) and a good portion of my time at home on the computer.

One of the main reasons I enjoy working on cars is, it gets me away from what I do for a living and from the cold glow of lcd's, although I did do an efi swap on one my cars and do have to use an old laptop to tune it, but that isn't to often.

I used to be a huge apple fan back when I was doing design work but after I stopped using quarkxpress, and final cut pro. I just can't justify paying apple prices for anything but an ipod.

Plus I couldn't see using the ipad in the garage I know I'd get some solvent, or weld slag on on it and ruin it.

As for an app, you certainly hit the nail on the head in that thread with your mockup. And as for development? Dude - INTERNS. They're free, and do some pretty good work.

There are things like http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin/ now. But I'd like to truly see some hooks into vbulletin to make it work right. The app side for the iPhone/iPad/iTouch isn't to bad, I've got the SDK on this machine and have been doing some stuff with it. But to be full featured and robust I think it'll take some on the other side as well. I really wouldn't want to break an upgrade paths for vBulletin.
