Actually we are building the 65 Skylark Gran Sport tribute car that was from Reynolds Buick.... Pete Reynolds is still there and Don his son is too... we are building the car and it will be on display at Reynolds Buick in West Covina in Oct 2010 ..if all goes well.. Spencor lyons is around we have talked to him too..and hopefully waiting on a color photo of the 65 GS that Pete Reynolds rolled and totaled coming home from the race track on a slippery off ramp off the I 5 in 1965. I can post some pics of the car if you would like to see... Don and Pete are very excited about this project it should be one hell of an event !!
Jimmy, I'll try posting the photo again. Can hardly see info on car, but looks like Lazar or Laser Auto Sales. Also, in 1966 at some AHRA tracks, they permitted dual-carb set-ups (factory kits) to be utilized in stock class. AHRA would just re-factor the HP. Check out Detroit Dragway photos. 66' Buick GS with dual-carb set-up (#Y48 code from the 425 Wildact) running in C/SA versus a Holley-carbed 66' Mustang 289 HI-PO K-Code car. Both would normally run in D/S. Paul
Paul...I couldnt find the Dertriot Dragway pics..is there a web site or a link?..yeah see if you can load that canadian one up too!!
C, "So far" we plan on being there with Pop's original Kenne-Bell/Reynolds Stage2 test car. Do you recall this car? Sorry for being a little O/T... Then... Now...

Motor Wheel Spyders. Buick should have installed these wheels from the factory! Great original design. Hardly anything before or since has looked as good.
Cool-looking wheels but heavy as heck as I've been told. That's okay, I'm a "form over function" guy (most of the time) and would mount 'em on my car if I had a set! Pete
Hey Pete, Again nice stuff (Attic gifts?) That Brainbeau Olds 4-4-2 in B/S, looks like 1967. Is that the one Doc Burgess from up our way got in 1968, and ran in D/S. Re-painted white, and lettered 'Black Arrow'? He beat that 400 engine to death, before selling it. PC
Pete, One more thing. The 1966 photo. That little 65' Plymouth Signet 273 behind Jere Stahl's car. The hardtop Signets were 100lbs. heavier than the V-100/V-200 cars. The 273/235HP Signets ran in F/S, the 235HP V-Series ran in the more competitive E/S. Look at that Signet, no exterior side mirror, no radio antenna, and probably heater delete. Trick lightening for 1966. Well, maybe he kept the heater in the car, Valley Motors located in Altoona, Pa. Winter came early in that town. Wonder if Jere got the idea to run a 66' Valiant 273/235HP by looking at that car near him. You know, they are very beautiful. Another one of those cars that does a 360 around the 'ugly meter'. PC
I always thought the Motor Wheel Flys' were very light weight, as in "fly"-weight.Anyone? Butch/56sedandelivery.
Oh yes, the Motor Wheel Flys were lightweight, especially the magnesium versions of those wheels as seen on Glidden & Allen's, Gapp & Roush's, Richie Zul's, etc. Pro Stockers of the mid-1970s. The Spyders--just the opposite. Still, they look cool! Pete
Don't know if the Flys were any lighter than the Super Tricks but I would pick them over the Cragars anytime just for looks!
Picture 6701 Looks like Dragway 42 West Salem Ohio Maybe a Anderson Pontiac car That Indian chief on the rear quarter looks like the one on the 62 tempest SD old-old timer
I'm thinking its New England Dragway... I met the guy that raced that car...there is a clone built but..the original car was found by the man who raced it a few years ago...I hear he is selling it...didnt want to finish the restoratoin.
Brainbeau Olds loved New England Dragway, Great pictures of them running against Bob Gaudreau in the C/S 66' GTO 'Tin Tiger' sponsored by 'Paul Dodge Pontiac' (2) Tri-carbed GM cars. Then in 67', in B/S with the single-carbed 400' GM-engines. Roy Hill, one of the first Pro/Stockers to market Motor Wheels, on his 70' Pro/Stock Duster. Hey Pete, Whats with that 65' 289 Falcon running in B/S. The only way he could have run that, if it was a 289/271HiPo. Only 7 of them were made, all in Canada. Unless he just did a home remedy. PC
All the front Fly wheels were magnesium and all the rear Fly wheels were aluminum. They were the "fly weight" wheels of their time. I'm not sure about the Spyder wheels though. Never cared much for them. Just a personal opinion. No offense intended. Don't look too bad on the rear of some vehicles, like this Buick.
great picts pete, another 327/350hp '66 chevy II, similar to jenkins A/Stocker. car has been restored to it's prelettered condition. saw it featured in 1 of the car mags in the last few years, my CRS won't let me remember which one though.
Biscaynes, The little red caboose was out of Waterloo, New York. Mac-Merrit Chevy-Buick sponsorship out of Geneva, NY Don't think anybody could figure out what was in that post car at first. Big complaint, were those skinny baloney-skin front tires really legal! PC
