I bought this one for my daughter a year or so ago . It's a 60's Murray V-Front . I had one just like it when I was a kid . Figured I'd restore it till she's ready to ride it (she just turned 2) - unfortunately , it's still stashed up top in my garage :( . Guess I've gotta get off my butt and DO IT , I guess ! Either that or she'll just have to ride it as is ;) ...

  4. Make a tracing of the graphics and that cool rocket on each side then take it to a vinyl shop to duplicate.
What colour would you paint it?

  5. Nice B & W picture of your Dad and his firetruck, truely a Kodak Moment!:D

I don't have any kids or grandkids, but I do have a picture on me when I was two years old with my '38 Garton pedal car that my father fixed up for me, which you could say was my first hotrod. It originally belonged to my Grandfather when he was a kid. I still have it and it looks just as it does in the picture, although one of these days I'll actually find the original style wheels to put back on it.

Gartons are some cool old pedal cars , no doubt .

Retro - the old Murray will be as original in red with white graphics . Another cool original touch was the wheels painted red with a white ring to look like wide whites - I'll be re-doing that too . It was a good buy , it was complete (minus the hood bell) and was just like my old one . Hopefully she likes it , if not , I'll hang it on the garage wall !

  9. Buddy, I'am sure she'll like it! Will look great in that color combo with the wide whites!
    It's a keeper for sure!

  11. She's one lucky girl, it's a classic!:)

  12. A graphics shop should be able to produce those images in white vinyl OR better still, make vinyl stencils out of material with much less adhesion. Then you can paint the graphics on like (I assume) the original pedal car.

But it just wasn't fast enough,... so he went to work !

In the process of restoring some pedal cars. Graphics, bells, hubcaps etc. are all available from Blue Diamond. They are tied in with Speedway. Toll free order line 1 - 800 - 971 - 8411 or www.bluediamondclassics.com . Hope this helps. Great photos.

Did a quick and dirty job on this $5.00 garage sale find back in the 80's for my two sons,... Boy!,... Did they like to run into the house with it !
(The tongue deal, is a nasty little habit he picked up from Ed & Dennis Roth that year,...)

This pedal car was given away as a prize in a coloring contest. Minneapolis, 1955.

  23. Joe, that looks like a Ford Promo model, must be a one off?

I had one almost exactly the same when I was 4-5yrs old! I will have to find a picture of it and post it. I bought that one of that body style this weekend at the roadster show this weekend for my unborn son. :D I got another pedal car as well but different style. It will be made into a stroller for the shows.
