Babe Ruth was given an Auburn, 1926. Nice deal.

Below, safely parked under a tent next to one of the circus trucks, is the Tom Mix 'death car', the 1937 Cord Phaeton convertible he was killed in in 1940. The truck on the right is a GMC tour bus.

Nice old pictures of Cords in Europe.

The first is from Sweden and shows a very nice phaeton.

The next picture shows a cabriolet in France.

Fred Duesenberg in on of his early cars that he built for Mason w/a 4-cyl. walking beam engine. He won his class at the tough Algonquin Hill Climb in 1912. The car was called the Goat.....kind of looks like one.

1929 Duesenberg J Judkins Coupe... One of the best looking three window coupes ever.

Any guess where the idea of chopping a top came from?

Is it a Cord? Is it an Auburn? No, It's a Corburn!

The car was an original Auburn 852 Boat tail Speedster Supercharged 1936 RHD only 300 ever built, and imported into South Africa by Roy Evans, who it is believed was a car dealer. In the late 30's it was raced in the SA GP in East London and had it's mudguards removed for better handling etc. Unfortunately during the race a woman ran across the track and was hit by the Auburn, damaging the front extensively. The car was then sold on. Someone (it's not known who) rebuilt the car with Cord front mudguards as well as Cord bonnet, grille and instruments - everything else on the car was all Auburn.

Here is a wonderful picture of a CORD in front of the Fluminense Yacht Club, in Rio de Janeiro. The owner of the car was treating a couple of friends - Mr and Mrs STHALL -who had just arrived from the USA:

This Duesenberg was sold new to Erik Akerlund from Sweden in 1930.

The car was wiped off the face of the Earth in Sweden in the early 1940s.

Here is the very same engine when it was being restored...... It is the Duesenberg eight valve walking beam 4-cyl. racing car that IMS Museum has.

This photo is believed to be of Jean Harlow and an Auburn Speedster taken in Los Angeles at the Coliseum just after the Olympics.
