So, I posted pics a few days back of a Lincoln I plan on getting once I get back to the states. I was bored tonight, and started playing around with Photoshop. This is the Before and After. Not great, but it gives me some ideas. I'm also thinking 30' cherry bombs running down the sides, and Colorado Customs Boulder Wheels.
A Lincoln is a Luxury Car and should have shiny Paint and proper Wheels not ones that will "Donk" it out...
I like the before picture better. nothing wrong with driving an old car and not change it around. stock cars are cool too.
Your Photoshop skills aren't too bad for a first timer, but I'm with everyone else in saying that I don't like your plans. I'd rather see shiny black paint, low, Bellflower tips, and some kind of 1960's era correct wheels. Big, fat spoke wire wheels, like Star wires, would look nice, with Vogue tires or something similar looking. A tube grille might also look nice, to replace the stock insert.
Looks good for your first photoshop. I'm with the others on the look of the car. But it is your car so do what if you like.
Don't let 'em give you shit about the color change, making a shift from white to black in Photoshop is tough. Just keep trying different techniques, it takes time to learn how to make the tools do what you want. (Just like everything else). Here's my take:
This is why I love the internet, you show this to your friend, or wife and they say it looks good. You can always get the truth from strangers. I would prefer a deep gloss black or black cherry, wasn't going for the flat black look, but couldn't get a gloss look. Any tips on making it look better, I see people asking to have their cars photoshopped, but, like the car, I would prefer to learn to do it myself. And I could leave it stock, I will for awhile, but I can't don't want to leave it white.
I have Photoshop cs4 master suite edition, so it has every plug in for photoshop. is there anything other than the basic photoshop that I should use for this kind of thing?
You have all the tools you need for the job. It´s all about observation - study some pics of really shiney cars and copy what you see onto your own car.
Squab and I seem to have similar taste. That car is a luxo barge, built for people who like a comfortable life and a comfortable car. What you plan doesnt "fit" the car. No offense intended........
I agree, Yichoke's pic looks alot more like what I had intended, Not totally sold on the tube grille, but giving it some consideration. I definitely don't plan on making it a "donk", but I like the look of solid wheels. Nothing huge, 17's at the most. With white walls maybe.
I think the photoshop job is ok but choices you made on colors and wheels are way off. You have a classy almost elgant car and it need a paint job that will bring it to life. Flat black is way overdone and IMO does not belong on that car except as a primer getting ready for the final paint.
I'm still waiting for someone to help him do photoshop his self. Because I can't even put a picture on here, much less alter it. Roger
fallow James D instructions .... he is a master at it ... and go with limo black on the windows .. it will look sharp with the shiny black paint ... ....... by the way ,,, James D did my avatar .. you can see what he started with on my photo -album ..
I never intended on Flat black, just suck at photoshop. It took me about 3 hrs just to get where i ended up. I read about Mobsteel in another thread and they have a few cars that are a little closer to what I want. I don't want to go pure black with it, I really like black cherry, or maybe two tone black cherry on top and a dark gunmetal on the sides splitting the color at the chrome strip on top of the fenders. Definately white walls.
Keep at it and you'll improve. As you learn post your tips. Lots of us would love to get better at this too
Just play with photoshop a bunch more and you'll improve. Pretty good for your first attempt though. Please, please, please don't put cherry bombs down the sides of that car!
+2 on what Cretin said about the cherry bombs. A moulded entrance in the front and chrome lakes pipes down the side it thats the look you want but again NO CHERRY BOMBS!!! Frank
No Photoshop-specific comments, but I think this might be the one car out of a million that would look good with a color matched painted front bumper. I could definitely see this lincoln wearing thin whitewalls and a simple wheel treatment, like the first of your examples. The slab-sided unembellished styling teases the eye, challenges it to find something that jangles or hits a wrong note. Sometimes less really is more.
So, I'm starting to get the feeling that maybe no one like the idea of cherry bombs. Don't know why, but just a feeling. My other thought was Porters. I found them while clicking around on the forum. If they sound anything like the sound clips on the site, they are exactly the sound I want. the '60 caddilac sounded perfect.
