Now I had to get the thing off the car so I could rebuild the missing inner framework and mate the totally different sedan framework to the coupe upper portion. In order to try and keep the shape I crawled into the trunk and tacked a couple of braces in place....

and decided to do another brace or what ever you want to call it on the outside so there was no chance of movement...

I started on piecing together the inner frame work last night and got it mostly figured out but I have to sandblast everything and get some weld through and epoxy on the areas I wont be able to access after I start to weld it in...it was boring and time consuming to say the least and since it was calling for rain today I decided to get a start on something else and pick away at the lid this week.....

Since my brother and his family arrived on Thurs from Ontario for some holiday time , I decided to share some metal working skills with him today :D:D:D
He took all the pics ( he figured close to a hundred) and I wont get them from him till tomorrow sometime so here are acouple of teaser pics that I took at about 4:30 pm we started to lay out the cuts at about 10:00 am and werent really rushing it. I have way more hours in the damn trunk lid than I do in the roof so far lol!! I am gonna try and get both "B" pillars solidly tacked tomorrow and try my best to start to fit the rear window in ...but I dont have anymore pics for tonight till I get the others from my bro tomorrow. So what ya all think of the new height

Second wind? Man.. I'm waiting for my first!!!
I've spent 8 hours the last 2 days trying to clean and sort stuff out and have no real progress to show for it (just a few bruises and a sore back). I wish I had your energy. And garage. And welder. And material to work with. Oh ya.. and talent.
    Kool stuff, man.

Ya... you sure do get lots of practice. The talent is there for sure.
Promise us you won't be like some of the guys here (NO offense to them because some have really great talents) that just keep modifying and never finishing.
I guess that car in the next bay will make sure you get this one done. ;)

My opinion of the chop is that the amount of cut is just right...any more would have been too much. And, you are smart to take it outside for a longer look at what you have created. The real test is the back portion....getting the loft line right is a challenge. (I know you are up to it!!):)

    Great work!

  14. You are seriously fucking fucked in the head for even thinking about tackling that stuff, which of course, is a good thing. :)

Amazing work to get three different trunk lids into one. Crazy, man. Crazy!

Thanks Russ I certainly value your opinion ! Despite the temptation I am not gonna touch the back till I get all the 1/4 window/B pillar tacked up. Hows the work on the 42 comin along, ya get it blasted yet?

Not a chance Joe I wanna drive it, and it dont have be finished for that !! I will prolly do some more kustom mods once its mobile but nothing that would take it off the road for more than a weekend...then again my past has proven that once I start driving them I dont tend to work on them too much:D

Good. But the key is to have fun, right?
I've built some things for the T a few times just because I wanted to do it different/better. No pressure. Just for the fun of it.
Driving.... gonna be a long while before I drive mine, unless I change the body style.
Some kind soul gave me the back section to make a bucket but I'd want a top so I could drive it more than the 3 days a year we have nice weather.
Got rotors coming in next week so I guess I better get back at it soon.
Hey.. it's after 9 and you are still inside! What's up??? ;)

Koolkemp, you my fellow frostbitten Canadian boy deserve the top place in the rust restoration hall of fame!!! I thought that I brought home some rusty lumps but I see that you could piece together a nice rod from just a rusty gas cap. You are also a fine representation to our fellow HAMBERS what any car guy east of the Ontario/Manitoba border typically starts with. If my wife sees your rate of progress, I will never hear the end of it! Keep up the awesome efforts! If I ever make it East again, I would like to shake your hand; even if it is cut, dirty and burnt! Kudos.:)

Thanks guys ! You work too much Rick lol! Heres a few pics of todays progress...got the B pillars all tacked in and the quarter windows pieced back together ..they even match side - side :D I was gonna do the rear window next but I think I will do the door tops first to make sure I am happy with the profile and lines if thats all good then I will lay that window down good !

    Hey there!
Your use of some dark pieces of metal against the lighter primer made it hard for my old eyes to see detail in the window sections.
Sooo.... being the geek that I am.. I loaded the pics into Gimp and zoomed in a bit.
At first I thought you had mega-gaps but now I can see better.
    Looks really good!
Probably a good call to wait on the back window until other things are buttoned up.
Are you going to have someone give you a hand when you do that? I mean holding stuff and helping with the measurements/eyeballing.
Or are you just going to dive in and continue on the wild and crazy path you have been on? ;)
    Love that stance.

  26. koolkemp...your work is fantastic! I'm learning just from reading this thread. I'm looking forward to the next installment with baited breath!

Cool about the pics to post. Can't wait.
ooo Mr. Mom. Have fun with that. Good to change focus once in a while.
I'm focusing on doing a major cleanup around the place now.
decades of neglect has made me look like an old hermit-hoarder.
As for the T... I'm trying to find a "local" source for a king pin set for my 40 spindles. I have GM rotors on the way. I'll need bearing adapters/sleeves for the inner bearings. A guy here has offered his lathe so I can cut them.
I know I can order this stuff from the states but I'd rather find stuff I could look at first and touch it before I pay.
Also.. I'm trying to setup containers to hold body panels for dipping.
It sounds like I'm doing stuff but then I see your progress and realize that I'm slower than the snails in the garden here.
    Have a good one!
