Rarely do I see my wife very upset, but when I called her from work in Pennsylvania today, I heard it! Seems I have too many project/toys, so telling her another one was on the way was a bit much for her!

But I'm stoked. I was minding my own business, driving down the road when I spotted a '62 olds sitting in a field. It hadn't been there a week ago, so I stopped and looked. When I called, the lady told she her husband had painted the car, rebuilt the engine, then passed away before he could finished it. She told me she just wanted to clear out everything, so make her an offer.

Well, I' uncomfortable about making low offers in these situations, so I gave her my number and asked her to call me if she figured out a price. I headed back to the rig, and kind of thought that was the end of it. When she called me later in the afternoon, she all but gave the car to me!

Soooo, here it is! I need to finish installing the trim, tranny, and radiator, and the interior needs a bunch of work.

Now, I just need to figure out how to get it bask to Colorado!

I got the bumpers behind the car, but not the fenders. The fendors are from a 37 ford with the top cut off

Haha! More being done there than it appears! Should have some pics from fink'd on the body mods real soon, and the Jag suspension will go on as soon as I get the car back.

Have you guy's tried..... "I bought a car for you Today Honey".... It does help if it runs and drives then they can have some fun with them.... of course you would still have to drive it alot to make sure everything is running okay and to do the oil changes etc.........

Haha! See, WORK is the problem! If they'd just let me go home, I could get that engine tore down!

  22. You should listen to your wife..... just ship it to me! It's only half the distance! :D Buddy in H.S. had one. It was a light butter color (really, almost a white) with a VERY light green interior. He got it off his great aunt iffin I remember right. I know for certain that 12 H.S. kids could get into the Drive In theater in that beast in one trip.
    Nice score.

Hey Buddy, I can get you the name of my therapist.
The thing is I dont think it is helping.
Boy your wife must have had a bad day, I remember the time I pulled that gag with the model A coupe delivery and she seemed good about old car surprises.
Nice find, you could not pass up something that looks that good.

Haha! I doubt that it would help. The problem with my wife is, there have been a LOT of car surprises lately.

Russ, read the statement I quoted from Bored&Stroked.I keep thinking about this statement, because there is far too much validity in it! I've decided that all these toys are fun, cool, and DISTRACTING! I'm going to sell all of the cars, engines, and parts that are not Lasalle related, and put ALL of my efforts into getting it done. There is so much left to do, especially if I do it right.

And you know what? I KNOW that it's the right thing to do, because I love that damn flatcad car so much.

  26. I know . . . I know . . . didn't mean to ruin your day! I'm like a kid in the candy store as well - "deals" show up that take me away from my true love. I've found that if I don't force myself to concentrate, I can't get ANY car done. I helped a good friend build a 29 roadster last summer -- this summer I'm sticking with my 34 coupe, no matter WHAT distractions come up. There is only so much time and money -- ain't it a bitch having to choose :D
