well here it is.. its not much but its a pretty straight car has 70000 orig miles 170 special with a 2 speed <a target="_blank" href="http://img691.imageshack.us/i/0322101709.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img213.imageshack.us/i/0322101708d.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img80.imageshack.us/i/0322101708c.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img94.imageshack.us/i/0322101708b.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img230.imageshack.us/i/0322101708a.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img514.imageshack.us/i/0322101708.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img714.imageshack.us/i/0322101709c.jpg/"></a><br> <a target="_blank" href="http://img694.imageshack.us/i/0322101709a.jpg/"></a><br> and well ill be updating this soon putting together a 260 have two holly 450 carbs tunnel ram with hand ported heads. As well as a build c4 trans with a shift kit. I also plan on putting in a straight axle with steelies in the back and 10 spokes in the front well enjoy
thanks, i figured this wasnt a bad first car since i got it from the original owner sat for 35+ years in dry storage
Finished porting heads today picked up 60 cfm from 140 to 200 at 500 lift not bad for my first set of heads. Thanks to the guys atDr-J's Performance for all the help.
Should have my 260 ready here in a few weeks.I still have to port my tunnel ram but it is comming along nicely
Picked up some new seats from the swap meet today. Not a bad deal for 10$ a seat... the guy said they came off an old tractor, they recline back and can be adjusted forward or back about 4 inches. The backs are stainless steal.. should clean up nicely
well a little up date for you guys i got a picture of my c-4 trans and i hit the jack pot today at the pomona swap meet i got a straight axle with new bushings, tie rods, king pin joints, new wheel cylinders, new brake lining, new wheel bearings, new wheel bearing caps, new wheel studs, a steering box, new shackles, engine member, brake proportioning valve, and new brake lining for $140.00 (ill take some better pictures when my camera recharges in the morning)
I'd swing away from the tunnel ram-too 70s-80s, and probably way too much carb for a 260(unless you ment 460? Which is late 60s anyway, are you going for a period correct build?).
yes i have 2 450s and finished porting the manifold today here is a mock up i like how my older brother is looking deeply at it haha
yes i would like to keep it as period correct as possible as for the tunnel ram i have put alot of hours of work into porting that dam thing and their is no turning back now
update i picked up my rear end housing today and here are some mock up americans on it(chevy bolt pattern)
That does seem like an awful lot of intake for a 260. My buddy in high school put a 500cfm Holley 2 barrel on his 260 and drowned it. Nursed it for 2 days and took it off. Undrivable.
Looks like you are off to a good start! Keep it up! On the tunnel setup....900 cfm is way overkill unless that motor is built to the hilt and revs to the moon. What's your plan on the engine mods?
ok here is what i have 260 bored 40 over and honed (out of a 63 and a half comet oddly enough) ported tunnel ram(still need to flow test) and ported heads flowing 200 cfm isky .512 lift cam .187 intake valves , competition valve job
Well today i picked up my rebuilt center section (4.11 with trac loc posi) and 9 inch housing i also picked up a SW greenline tach... ill post pictures later tonight after i get off work( here they are ...)
Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I thought you might like seeing your car's cousin in Tennessee. Other than the fender, it's the original unrestored paint.
