The photos in red are 15 years old. That is the last known location and time.

  2. I currently live in Yucaipa. During the summer months, there is a local car show. When I had my 55 Gasser, I took it and at the same show a yellow 57 chevy showed up looking just like that one.

I currently know where it is, I should study these pictures and look at it to see if its the same care. Has the same stance, look and everything...in fact, if I remember correctly, I was told the car was a 'gasser' but had history....

    Let me do some diggin.

  3. well you should go over there and take pics and put them on here

I did the same thing on a lost and found web site called Byron's Gasser Madness. You most likely did the same...Even though he has the info he hasn't posted it yet.

Here are some photos of what was happening just before I built the gold ’57. In one of the photos you can see the engine in my black’57 210 hard top. The engine was modified after that photo to the exact way it is shown in the dragster with the two carbs on top. Later I put the Hillborne injectors on top. After the dragster deal the engine sat for a few months and then went into the gold ’57. The dragster belonged to a co worker who originally had two injected SBC hence the name Two Two Train. I didn’t post the entire story so if you read it, it is cut short. The guy in the car being pushed in Bob Thompson (Big Ba) of early Hot Rod Magazine Shop Talk Articles Cartoon artist.

Great thread and car! I remember guys doing all kinds of modifications... then new laws and codes about lights, bumpers, wheels, tires, heights, etc, etc, etc kind of made it a hassle.
I see the red 57 pics and wouldn't be a challenge if not a lot of $$$ to rebuild the frame and so on? Then to leave it outside?
Maybe I'm hoping the mid-engine chassis is still out there?

  11. me myself as many of the other posters on this thread absolutly loved this gold 57 its my 3rd favorite 57 chev of all time the other two being project X as it was in hollywood knights (not the basturdized modern version) and the return to macon county line movie car

it would be VERY cool if the car could have been found as built by dan , but now that its appearently back to just being another 57 its most likly not worth the trouble of rebuilding with its set back unless the set back mounts are still in it

but i have to be honest i love 57 chevys soo much that IF I HAD FOUND a red 57 with a straight axle i would of been so estatic that i would of not have even thought the gold car was the red car in front of me and just built the thing the way i would of wanted it , so if its been restored back to stock or hot rodded to hell i cant really blame the people that did whatever they did to the car

i was really hoping the car would of been found as it was though

I just discovered this thread today and reading it was like reading a really good mystery novel! I love it! The hamb is amazing. And then Mr. Glover shows up!! Absolutely wild! :)

Too bad it didn't stay in California. Say what you will about the state, but this wouldn't probably have happened if it had stayed here. Oh well. I can't imagine why somebody would ever put the engine and interior back to their original positions either.

Building another one is easy, But it wouldn't be "The same One". The hard part is finding a '57 210 with no rust. The rest can be junk. Oh yea. Some of the junk I have seen, guys want it's weight in gold to buy it. No thanks.

I could get hot, but not bad. Perfect on cold nights. The blower belt was a little loud, but that was aso a good thing. LOL!
