I'm sure it's happened to everyone. You see a particular ride and it just leaves you speechless. Could be stock or full blown Kustom. Could be fully restored or just a buch of parts. This one does it for me everytime.

One of my all-time favorite cars ! Hanging in my Garage is an Original Framed Ad that I've had for the last 35 years: It's a 1939 Zephyr V-12 Coupe...just classic, classy, and, beautiful.

The Art Deco dashes & interiors are breathtaking !

This is my favorite car since finding the H.A.M.B.,Doodlrod's Dodge roadster, and it wasn't even finished yet.
    Now I'm building something similar.:p:D

  11. I have loved the Dream Truck since I first saw it in some little pages that my dad had from the late 50s....I knew it had gotten rebuilt in the early eighties and to my disbelief I was shocked to actually drive by and nearly fell out of my car when I spotted it sitting at a Steak n Shake cruise night on Lemay in St Louis in 1989! That is where I met Kurt McCormick for the first time and found out how many historic kustoms he was in the process of saving. He was astounded by the amount of knowledge I had of the Dream Truck because I was only 18 at the time. We parted ways and I saw him on the side of the road later that evening with gas shooting out of the tricarb fuelblock into the fan. We tied a shirt onto the fuelblock and I promptly told him I was following him home because I had a fire extinguisher and I wasn't gonna let that truck burn on my watch!!!! We limped it to his house and he led me (then a total stranger) on a full tour of his impressive kustom collection at 1:30 in the morning!!
I have been a close friend of Kurt's since that day and hope others have a similar experience burnt into their memory that will last with them until they die. I know I will!!! I will NEVER forget the day I saw this truck in person.........

This one, the Lil Beaver, about 50 years ago when I was a kid. (1964). My uncle took me to a car show in Milwaukee.. I guess the car still exists in a much butchered form in the Detroit area.

    Really nice.

Are you the only member of the 1940 Ford Club? There are no others in the reflection.

  22. Great story , great Custom , was a great collection to be lucky enough to get a look through , Karma for reaching out to help others !

  23. I've been around a lot of cars from customs to Classics and there have been many that were great but just a few that actually "took my breath away". This '32 Imperial roadster with body by LeBaron absolutely does for me.

    Wayne,
Great choice! Is that the car that was an unrestored, untouched original? I saw a story about that car being at Pebble Beach...I think it was in Hemmings Classic Car. That car is awesome. Great lines.

Okay, going a Personal level, THE INVICTA took my breath away the first time I saw it in 1998. It was built by the legendary Upholsterer/Builder Manuel Arteche' of Woodland, California.

Sadly, Manuel passed away in Oct. of 1999. I purchased the car in Oct. 2000. It's now on display at Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Hall Of Fame Museum. AND, it STILL takes my breath away everytime I've sat in it, driven it, or, seen it in the Museum.

It has an aura that permeates it that has taken it from just being a "car", to a car that as Gary Howard, Jeff Myers, and many others state, has "soul". The craftsmanship that went into this car is impeccable.

I have a Tribute Page to honor Manuel on my WebSite, with stories by John D'Agostino & Jerry Weesner who knew him well.

Manuel Arteche' was one of the most courageous and dedicated R&C Professionals that ever lived, and I would be honored if you'd have time to visit, learn about him, and see some of his other cars: http://www.legends.thewwbc.net/gpage117.html
