Somewhere there is a Simca nut dying for this car. He is a twisted car guy, but a car guy nonetheless. The opportunities for him to own one of these, and put it back on the road, are few and far between. There are SO many odd, and more plentiful, cars that would make good g***ers. I think you should try to hook up a fellow car guy with his dream car first. If no one HAS to have it, then add straight axle, gas tank in grille opening, roll bar, pie crust slicks on five spokes, dual carb 327,metalflake steering wheel and I'll see you at the H.A.M.B. drags.

59IMPALER I tend to agree with you. I would like to see someone get it who really wants a Rare Simca. I got my jollies by saving it from the crusher. A g***er would be cool, but I don't want to sell my other projects to finance it. Was hoping someone would have some ideas on gl***.

Okay, the poll is leading with G***er. Second place is sell to a collector and move on. Still no suggestions for gl***. Is Lexan legal for daily drivers?

Trying to do the gl*** in lexan will not save too much in the way of money. I am about 95% sure that the Facel gl*** is interchangeable . The windshield also may work but the side wing may need to be trimmed to match the post. These windshields were custom fit to each individual car. Dont forget the seals they are also available. between the seals ($300.00 ea), both gl***es ($1500.00 to $2500.00 ea.) and fitting to the body it is going to get expensive. You still haven't mentioned the side gl*** . Cutting new side gl*** isn't too bad but you will need to make the stainless edge trim for the windows. This is one of those cars that is not for the faint of heart regardless of the direction chosen for its future. Dont ruin it by making it a g***er. You stand a better return on your money by getting it back into the hands of a restorer . This will be a little challenging since the market for this car is definately overseas in Europe.. now may not be a bad time to test the waters there. Sales have been strong due to the euro /dollar exchange rate.

Palosfv3 great advice. This could be a very expensive car to restore or modify. I've tried to see how many are in the U.S. but haven't had much luck. It might be rare to the point of what do you do with it. Hence the poll. I'm afraid the restorer's will whine it's too rough, then ***** when someone turns it into a G***er.

Sound like a Damned if you do, damned if you don't kinda deal. How about putting it on that auction sight with international offers accepted, and if it doesn't sell - hack away! And I have said g***er several times, but could definitely see it sans top with a low wrap around plexi windscreen as a Eurotrash kinda race car...

  9. road course car..i cant see or hear anything else, thats what it says to me when i look at it, road course all the way

Being a Simca, plenty of choices:

    Cheap and cheerful Aronde:

or "big bucks", for a Simca, restoration:

    or anything inbetween. :)

(One similar to yours partly obscured by Aronde).

Honestly i'd go kustom, but trying to be as styeish as possible.
Pretty hard im sure but i think worth it in terms of personal achievment.
No g***er, even less euro racer.
Either kustom or try sell it to restorers IMO.
I'll ask about gl***, but no promises, i doubt it is a well known model around these parts.

Some kind of g***er. Otherwise it's just a cute little car that needs just as much work and money as a 30s coupe or something.

This post just keeps getting more interesting. Thanks for the input. I have a 60 Ford 2dr wagon I would like to sell because people have pointed and laughed at it. Sometimes it is hard to be different.

I'd go road race find a wrecked 350z for the drive line, put in a roll bar, fuel cell and race the wheels off of it.

Tomslik, is there a guy named Chuck Murphy in Berthoud yet? Went to Wyo tech with him back in 1981. Just wondering. Are you looking for a 59 Ford 4dr wagon? Might know where there's one. Not to get off track. The Poll is getting closer to G***er or Resto. All I know for sure is I have too many projects. I don't like Ebay, and somebody probably needs it worse than I do.

How about a French Style LSR Racer...

That way you dont have to worry about finding the gl***.

That is pretty cool. Way out of my price league, but a definite option.

Got a response from the Simca Club today. Have done some more research also. Wish I knew how to read French.

If this is a real rare car sell it to some nut who will get all lovie on it, other wise heres my take for what its worth, cut off the roof, solves a lot of problems, this thing looks like a sunbeam tiger, a bit, fit a new roadster style gl*** to it, put a half hoop cage on it, tarp the p***enger side, pull the grille, fit a new grille into the shell, black out the grille and sink it back, find an old ford 240 like the tigers had, fit it with 8 webers, find some period correct tires and rims, it could look like a pre cobra race car, check into the look of the Tigers, you could race the piss out of this. This would be more of a dogfight car. Black with a red circle and number and some period decals, maybe french.
