    Anyone remember film????
    :D:D:D:D:D

Anyone want to buy my 35mm camera collection?

Seriously, at swap meet I just picked up a Brownie Hawkeye 8mm film camera, unused, in the box.
Only because it was neat, and from a time when things like that were more fun.

If this still exists it needs to be found and restored. If it doesn't it needs to be cloned! That is beyond cool.

Film is that stuff that forms on your teeth if ya don't brush 'em for a few weeks. I think Monochrome film comes from the colorful bits that build up in said film.

  10. Those early ones are amazing. Can't even imagine life in those days.

  11. I've been doing research on the Trotters Club, and sadly must report that the Lyndwood dragster in the photo was cut up when the club broke up in the mid-60's.
The big fellow leaning into the 5th wheel truck is George Wingo, (RIP) then president of the club.
The club's designated pilot was Charles Bryant who's still with us, and has a very sharp memory of all that went on back in those days.

Many thanks to the guys that keep this thread going with photographs that capture the "feel" of growing up in an earlier and more satisfying environment. I don't know where they find these photos, especially of the '50's and '60's women with their cars, but thank you and don't stop.

This was the Model A that was passed around by the test pilots at Edwards AFB back in the early '50s. That's Chuck Yeager in the driver's seat and one of his buddies, in dress USAF blues, giving him a push-start. Flight test hangar in background.

Could be also that the custom cars revolutionized the car industry.

And with an 850 Fiat spyder on scene. Most fun $1800 car you could buy back then. Gary

The California State Guard was organized 1941 by Executive Order of Governor Culbert L. Olsen when California National Guard elements of the 40th Infantry Division, 250th and 251st Coast Artillery Regiments, and other units were Federalized. Although the authorized strength of the State Guard was originally set at 10,000, the actual mustered strength reached 21,615 by the end of 1941.

By February of 1942, a total of 13 Infantry Regiments (numbers 1 through 13) were activated along with a Medical Regiment, Marine Company, two Nautical Corps, and a Quartermaster Regiment. During the first year of the Guard, a number of special organizations were activated but later were mustered out of service including the 1st through 10th Observation Squadrons, 1st Engineer Regiment, 1st Evacuation Corps, Sanitary Corps, Women's Ambulance and Nursing Corps, 1st and 2nd Ambulance Battalions, and several provisional companies.
