In my area, we have had people following the UPS truck around and they snatch the deliveries right off people's steps, mail boxes. A guy at work had an amp delivered and a neighbor saw a car pick the item up right after. I knew a couple of guys that worked part time for UPS years ago. Whatever came into the depot was fair game. They'd print up a new label, slap it on and the item would be re-routed. This was before tracking was so good. I've never ever lost an item through the US Postal service though. Bob
Hope all turns out well JK. I have also used the BTO products, fine folks as well. i used thier torque converter lock up and throtle/detent bracket, good stuff. See you at Salina.
Just a little update. I got a call about an hour ago from a very nice older lady saying she had my package. It seems that my 5 year old can read better than the UPS driver. It was on the next block over. I walked down and picked it up. I guess I know what I'll be doing after I get back from the noodlin' festival tonight. Now I just need to find my neighbors dirt bike gas tank and send the replacement kit back to bow tie.
If I am not at the shop. I have them put the packages over the fence with My puppys. If they get the box at least Ill have some ass meat for dna testing.
I had been waiting on a package for some time and was beginning to assume the worst but I got it this morning. Whew! Good thing I got it before I saw this thread because i'd really start worrying. I live in the country and being in the meth capital of the world I should be more cautious... See you in Salina Jason!
From someone that ship's alot things everyday, they did the right thing for you. I have had they same thing happen to me in the past. I always require them to market the package signture required, may add a little to shipping but you don't get burned in the end. They most likely will file a claim with carrier. glad they did the right thing
$5000+ in copper wire stolen from my good friend's shop. Chain the bastards to a cracked block and drop em in deep water- Why do I buy ammo?
Bowtie od is a great out fit--have one of their units in my wife's 55. UPS man here is great too--puts the stuff in my backyard--but I mailed a piece to a guy in Pa via US mail--isn' there yet (should have been)-did the transaction via ebay--he is nervous--told him if it's lost, don't worry, I'll give him a refund and write it off to a bad deal--stuff happens
Had the same thing happen to me two weeks ago with FedEx, or so i thought. I called them when i saw that the tracking said it had been delievered. Two days later i got the package. There was a relief driver that day and he dropped the package off down the street at the wrong address. The address that it was dropped off at contacted FedEx the same time as me. Nice to know that there are still some honest people in the world.
Not true. Last Saturday I was expecting something from Fed-ex. I just happened to look out the window and I see a lady walking down the sidewalk of the neighbors house that's been vacant for over a year. I didn't think a lot about it at first. I went down stairs, and noticed she was getting in a Fed-Ex truck. She delivered my package to the wrong house. I got online, and it said delivery confirmed, no signature required. If I hadn't noticed her walking across the yard, I wouldn't have gotten the package and I would have been SOL.
If you don't want to have you package drop off at door step. Make it so that you have to have a signature to receive your goods and it is also a good idea to have insuance on it too.
Some worthless piece of shit stole the stereo and GPS out of my truck last night while I slept. I have a feeling it was someone who had looked the truck over before, probably seemed like an easy target. At least they were smart enough to try a door handle before they broke out any windows. But stupid enough that they broke the super rare factory center A/C vent trying to get the stereo out. Lived here for 4 years and never had a problem until now.
I've had this happen several times, i've requested signatures wen something is delivered to me, and ups dumps it on the porch and is gone, signature required or not
they could care less. they dump it and run. it doesn't matter what I specify, no one even rings the bell
May be around your neck of the woods they do that, but around here if it's a signature required package and nobody home they leave a call tag and you have to pick the package up at UPS or FedEx.
On another note i ordered and had a despute with Pete Paulson wheels 7 or so years ago. After they were 3 months late on sending them i told him forget it and turned it over to my credit card company to deal with. They were suppose to be delivered in two week tops ,not three months.I came home one day and there were four wheels in boxes sitting at the edge of my driveway. No one signed anything ,they just dropped them off.I hauled them to the UPS office and had them sent back at the shippers expense.I couldnt believe that they would leave $650 worth of wheels sitting in boxes at the edge of my driveway ,but they did.If someone woulda snagged them before i got home ,it woulda been a mess .If i had been home i woulda refused them ,but thats beside the point. The point is UPS will leave expensive items without a signature.I bought a rollbar kit last Fall and Fed-Ex delivered it the same way and i even requested that they get a signature before hand ...
In situations such as above, where you're out most of the day AND you don't want to have stuff shipped to work (nosey co-workers etc), what other solutions exist? Can you specify counter pickup and ups etc.?
you can request will call and pick it up at the center or you can request signature required and you will have to sign for it. here in the south we dont have much of a problem leaving things on the door step and of course we dont have a problem with snow drifts either. the next time you order something just tell the shipper to send it signature required and the ups guy will have to obtain a signature to leave it.if you have something stolen and file a claim most of the time all your stuff will become sig required
