    Hello,

I'm in the process of building a kustom and want to ask what size Supremes I can fit on a 1966 Catalina, the car has front disk.

The car did have 18" Cragar SS wheels with the following dimensions but they are sold and now I need wheels fast. These wheels had 235-50-18 tires and fit very well but just didn't match the style I want.

    Cragars:
    18x7
    backspacing: 4.0
    offset: 0.00

I tried to put wire wheels but the reverse wouldn't fit. What I tried was 14x7 reverse China's. I'm kinda glad they did not fit as wanted Supremes. I found Supremes at Summit in various sizes but really need advice. Ive already purchased one but want to tell summit to cancel it if it will not fit as they said they made a mistake on listing ad that instead of 0.00 offest they are really -12. Then again they also said you cant run 175-70-14 tires on 7" wheels.

    US Wheel Supremes:
    14x7
    backspacing: 3.5
    offset: 0.00 (actually -12)

Also they have other size. Any help is needed.

    Thank You,

    Justin

why would a HOT RODDER or Custom car builder on a traditional site want any wheels larger than 18" - you building a DONK?

    uh... he sold those.

first thing I'd check is the bolt pattern. is that 5 x 4.75 or 5x5? not sure if they are available in 5 x 5".

Supremes come unilug up to 5x5, I've got a set for my 62 caddy.
I would think the stock (no offset) supremes would be ideal for your car.

18" wheels aren't DONK. these days they look almost normal. I did some rust repair on a bagged 64 Impala with 18" Cragars. looked pretty cool, though not HAMB approved.

15x7 looks good on stuff that size... I've debated changing from wires to supremes on my Buick.

If you do go with Supremes, be sure and post some photos with them fitted to your car. I think thats a great combination. The Catalina above in Ryno's post looks fantastic!

I am running supremes on my 68 Coupe Deville. I am actually running an oddball stagger set. I am running OG 15x8's up front with the unilug. They are a +33 offeset and are DEEP! the rear is 15x7's in the new style pictured above with a +22 offset. The 15x8's are way too deep on the offset to squeeze into the rear of my car. With the skirts one can't even tell.

 Nice Cat. I like those pipes. I now hope the ones I ordered will fit at I ordered the 14x7 standards (3.5 backspace) from Summit and planned to mount them on 175-70-14 skinny whites as was told thats whats on car below. I know some 14" fits as when I bought the car it had 14" front and 15" rear keystone kl***ics.

I cant fit the reverse without shortening the axle around 1.5" on each side. I tried a 14x7 reverse and is cleared the caliper on front but on the rear couldn't take the car off the jack as fender was going to hit the tires.

Disk brakes weren't available on 1966 Pontiacs, so the brakes on your car must have either come off a newer Pontiac (1968-1970) or were part of an aftermarket kit. The reason I bring it up is it may affect the type of wheel and the backspacing that will work.

i don't think those are 175's, a 195/75/14 or 205/75/14 is better for that big of a car.

(i think that looks like a 215/70/15, but feel free to prove me wrong, get a pic of gthe sidewall :) )

    this was a 215/75/14 on my '67...

I know. They where on there when I bought the car but are not original to the car. Thats why I tried to follow the back spacing of the Cragars in hopes it may not hit. If they do Ill have to send them back to Summit. I hope not though as was already taken for 900 dollars by a local wheel shop Friday so do not truly want to lose more money.

BTW, Below are pics of the car on the 18" Cragars. Ignore the oil as it was fixed long ago but these are only pics I have on hand that do not show the car either wrecked or having body work done.

The stock size tire on that car would be equivalent to a modern 225/75-14, so a 175/75 is going to be pretty small. I do understand that may be part of the look you're going with, but I'd recommend checking the load range for your tires to make sure they're up to the task of carrying that big heavy car.

I will do that and will replace them if they give me problems but for now I figure I may as well use them since I have them on hand and to be honest after being scammed by that business money is a issue especially at same time cars getting ready to come out of body shop. I sold my Cragars to a guy for 1,100 dollars and he picked them up at the shop. Anyway, needed wheels fast so could roll car into paint booth so went to M & Sons and ended up scammed. So at this point the wheels are rather urgent since car is sitting on blocks. Thats why am going to use the tires at least untill next month.

Your lacing out your package tray? Im thinking to fibergl*** the dash and pinstripe it but havent though of laying lace down on it. Will you gl*** it before spraying or what?

the package tray plan is Fiber Board with Red Velvet/Swade or Red Flake Vinyl Stretched over that, & Black Lace over that. You could do the same with the Dash. Ill let you use the Idea.....LOL. Im digging the side stripes in the 1st page, maybe something like that would look good on this tank. Just gonna be Red Wheels for now with the thin whites....we're Poor. Thought about moon disks, or the Stock Spinner Hubcaps...Ive got 2 and the back has skirts so anything shiny would work in the back. Cheryl wants to Lace the Skirts....Might look cool with Red Wheels....to black lace over a Red skirt. Any thoughts?
