Rock, I think you're right, "it is a gearhead thing"!! Most people won't understand that I'm having the time of my life doing this project.

Thanks, I hope I can build it exactly the way I envision it. Hope that makes sense.

It does make sense. All looks great up to now, so really no need to be afraid.

And...if you screw up somewhere...you will fix it.

Thanks 1959apache, the motivation is absolutely still there. It's nearly a shame that I'm going on holidays soon, but I gotta keep my better half happy as well. She's still supportive despite all my time in the garage. Amazing, right?

Will do ajmopar, can hardly wait to get back from the holidays. Going to Fort Lauderdale, FL, maybe quietly attend a car meet or two. Should be fun!

I understand. I have to do the same thing with my better half as well.. except when I piss her off she tells me "just go out and work on your car already"... she knows me so well... haha. She's super supportive too, plus she's into old ford fairlanes, so that helps.

I am excited to start working on my plymouth again, I only hope that mine will turn out as sweet as yours

That's just the part I don't like, having to fix a mistake. I know its inevitable, but I like it when its done right the first time. Maybe I should just see it as a great big learning curve. That's the fun part!

Most mistakes happen from trying to take a shortcut.
And after getting to meet you and see the car last week - shortcuts does definitely not sound like you:)
Enjoy your holidays and cheers to your family.

Thanks thinkfink, it was also good to meet you and learn more about the man behind the avatar. Your car is certainly an inspiration for me.(gotta love them Plyms). Enjoying the holidays will not be a problem! See you soon.

Thanks Rock! How's yours coming along? I'm on holidays soon, but can't wait to get back into the garage. Lots of new ideas have popped into my head lately, including interior thoughts. I love the look of this interior, not so much the colour scheme, but just the overall look/feel.

Unbelievable you've been able to achieve this all in such a short amount of time! Can't wait to see what it looks like, you're killing me. I know how much time goes into a project like this and you've done very well. This is going to be one hell of a ride!!

Just received my 90 degrees brake and clutch pedal assembly with mounting brackets from Kugel Komponents. Wow, is this thing well engineered or what. Considering I don't have any room in the frame for the brake booster and want to keep the engine bay clean, I opted for this 90 degrees set up. It will be bolted against the firewall, hidden partly behind the dash. Will eventually paint the assembly to either match the exterior or interior colour, haven't decided yet. Also got these great ss pedals with matching accelerator pedal. Things are coming together!

Just received my gauges from New Vintage USA, do they look good or what! They even made a speedometer for me in km/h. Can't wait to install it in the dashboard, but first I'll need to do some more metal fabrication.

Those look really nice, Eric but they won't mount in the original instrument panel area. What is your plan for mounting them? I've been studying mine and was thinking of mounting the 4 small gauges in the original panel area and then putting a speedo/tach combo unit in a pod mount on the steering column like the old Sun tachs.

Rock, I played with the idea of trying to fit everything in the original cluster area but wasn't able to fit it all in the relative tight area.(even when using smaller gauges). So the plans now are to mount three big gauges in the center of the dash and weld up the rest to get a clean look. I cut out some cardboard gauges for a simple mock up. Should look good!

That will look good, Eric. I'm just going for a different look and try to preserve the look of the original dash.

I like the original dash as well, but considering I'm customizing the whole car this won't hurt. (but I'm not doing it just so as to customize everything for the sake of customizing)) It's just more practical. You're taking a slightly different road where preservation works better. Can't wait to see some pics Rock!

Thanks Michelle, just got back from holidays in the US, got me some more parts and tools, and I'm itching to get back in the garage. It seems like a drug somehow, this car building thing.

It was good to get back in the garage again after 2 weeks of holidays. Spent most of the day working out the correct position of the engine and box. Also with regards to pinion angle, driveshaft angle relative to the gearbox, etc took quite an amount of time. Finally after a lot thought, slanted the engine 2 degrees down, giving me an angle with the drive shaft of 3.5 degrees. This angle will be reproduced at the pinion later, but this won't be too hard as I can adjust the triangulated 4 link. Ran into two things though. 1) I'll need an extra coupling in the steering shaft, as it otherwise will hit the header on the driver side. 2) never realised that the engine mount on the driver side is about half an inch forward compared to the passenger side. This engine mount will need to be cut, so that part of it will be welded on the vertical of the suspension cross member.(thought of welding the mount at an angle to the frame, but this would look strange in my opinion.) Both issues will be sorted out. This is all part of building a car I suppose.

Just one other pic. Forgot to mention in my previous post, that the right rear intake stack will probably slightly interfere with the firewall. I'll probably make a notch or may just rework the whole firewall. Haven't decided yet.

These are the two things I liked about the car when I bought it. Hopefully none of these items will be lost when I'm done rebuilding everything.
