  8. Paul Bunyan Lookout, in northeastern lower Michigan. Been to it many many times; I lived about 7 miles from him during my high school years. He and Babe are looking east over Lake Huron. Both statues were moved several years ago to another spot about 5 miles north of the location in this picture. About 10 miles south of Alpena, on US23.

    Those "men" weren't forced to work on that building but I'll bet they were grateful to have that job. They kicked ass and brought their lunch.

    Oh and that tool isn't an impact wrench. It's a rivet gun. Buildings weren't bolted together, they were riveted with hot rivets.

    It took less time to build the Empire State Building or the Golden Gate Bridge for that matter than it takes to get a building permit for a house in some locations of the country today...Providing they even let you build one.
