I was told that at least in Jefferson county the fly overs are to check for property improvements made without permits. They overlay the pics taken and look for changes. This came from someone that has had issues and spoke directly to the head honcho in Jefferson county. My mind can come up with all sorts of things that can be done with these pics once they exist like 'nuisance abatement'. To spend all that money on jet fuel there has to be money in it for the government.

All of these codes are to PROTECT something.

Remember when the government removed all of the asbestos from the school rooms.

I'm glad that they did because when I was in school in the 1950's kids were dropping dead out of their seats almost every day from the asbestos. Just Kidding :D

The truth is that a whole new industry popped up to take Billions of Tax Dollars away from Public Schools. (Government Schools)

I wonder if the cleanup people had anything to do with the legislation.

Those businesses either went away of had to invent other problems to abate.

I also wonder if the storage and storage building businesses have any thing to gain from these ordinances?

The Code Enforcement here in Riverside is a Money maker for the County.

They advertise for Enforcement Officers all of the time.

It's funny that most problems can be solved with money.

Low flying aircraft are more of a hazard to the citizenry than illegally parked cars. The FAA rules on low flying aircraft are quite clear. If you can read the numbers on the aircraft, NXXXXX, write down the number, the time, and type of aircraft and call Homeland Security and FAA. The cops aren't allowed, except in certain circumstances, to violate the rules either, but they are required to get clearance whenever they are deviating from a filed flight plan or whenever flying Visual Flight Rules(VFR). Any federal investigation of a local law enforcement agency violating airspace gets a lot of pantys in a bunch!!:D

The only thing that *might* be possible is to find someone in an unincorporated place like Norco or something that will lend you some storage space. Then find out what the codes are. The good thing about building to the edge of code is the occasionally you can get grandfathered in even if they are later changed.

Yeah..I guess we should get rid of these codes..that way maybe your neighbor can finally have the pig farm next to you..and the guy on the other side can live his dream with raising chickens..

Ah..the summer fragrance of pig shit mixed with chicken shit..and the wonderful music during slaughtering season..

Hey..maybe you could help him make sausage..

Some HAMBers have complete collector cars that they have bought from home builders.

    Some HAMBers are home builders.

I'll be willing to bet that some of the people on this thread who say "clean it up and get over it" are people who have the money to buy parts as needed or that can afford to buy complete cars from others who build them.

Many builders buy incomplete or project cars to use as parts stocks to build the cars that they are interested in.

Several years ago I was looking for complete f1 front spindles and brakes to use on one of my Model A Ford projects.

A friend suggested that I try a guy in Lake Elsinore, Ca. who built 48 to 56 ford trucks.

I was told that he installed disk brakes on them all of the time and that he had a good supply of parts for these trucks.

When I went to his place he told me that he had been on his place for many years with no problems untill about a year prior to my visit when Code Enforcement told him that he was in violation of code.

He built a fence around his place that was as high as code would allow and planted landscape in front of it.

When they returned and told him that he was still not in compliance he told them that no one could see his storage he was told that they could still see it from the air.

He told me that he had to get rid of all but what he could store inside and that he had sent a truck load of parts to a vintage ford parts dealer out of state. And that he had to scrap the rest.

HAMBers are going to find out that many of the great finds that we here about here on Hamb are going to dissapear out of backyards and off of farms because of the apathy of the average person who says "get over it"

The cash for clunkers program initiated by the invironmentalists distroyed many thousand special interest cars.

Some of those cars might have been used as parts cars for our cars.

1 parts car may end up allowing many restorers or hotroders the opportunity to complete their project.

Some people see junk cars and others see great finds.

When we allow our desire to not have to look at our neighbors junk we are giving up someone else's rights.

In a free society we can only allow that to happen at the risk of losing our own rights.

The people that write these ordinances think that they know what is best for society.

Our society prospered for 200 years just fine without them having the power to controll every aspect of our lives.

I was born in 1942 and raised during a time of great freedom but I am seeing that being taken away.

I am alarmed at how few others seem to care about what is happening to our Liberty.

Absolutely - the typical American will pi$$ & moan about welfare recipients getting special entitlements (for example), but evaluate every other proposal solely on how it affects them (or what they get out of it). Hence the comment above ranting about a neighbor using their property for something that they don't want.

Freedom is a little messy....and the Nazis can get everything ship-shape and the trains running on time...if one doesn't mind the chains so much.

You need to learn how to spell, as well. Now go back inside your little trailer in the wilderness, and put your doomsday radio "personality" on. :)

As to Cash For Clunkers: How many good Ford 9" rears went to the crusher? How many Engines and trannies that we update our street rods with went to the crusher? Too many in my opinion. That was all done just to throw a bone to the union auto workers who supported Obama in the election.

Government needs to stick to National Defense and otherwise stay out of our lives and the lives of people all around the world.

As to the "Pig Farm" : In a free society you would be able to CHOOSE what type of codes you wanted to live under. Just as in many developments governed by Homeowners Associations, you can decide whether you want to live under the rules or move elsewhere. When government makes the codes for a whole city it takes those options away.

In some HOAs you can walk the streets naked. In some you can't leave your garage door open because it shows the clutter of bycycles and lawn mowers, etc. But at least YOU get to CHOOSE, not some government busy body.

All to often what happens is, some developer finds that he can stick some big snobby McMansions up against your lower middle class property and then the snobby folks want to make you adapt to them. Hell, you were there first.

Right now my company is dealing with a similar situation. We have been hauling waste to one particular mandated disposal site for years. Then homes were built on the hill above. Now the people on the hill are waging war to get our site shut down. Hell, we were there many years before they moved there. But they are making headway because they have more votes. That's why we are supposed to be a Republic and not a Democracy.

A lynch mob is a democracy and so is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner.
