I gotta say, i also wasnt impressed with this years show. There wasnt a single car that i absolutly HAD to stop and look at. As for the "old skool" show, yeah there were quite a few well built rides, but did you see what took the show? Its disturbing...

Oh yeah, did anyone mosy over to the Mo'ville Speedshop (Morrisville CC.) tent? I pray that they're not teaching students how to build crap like that POS fenderless IFS..... well, if you seen it you would know what im sayin

Inside the Center of progress building there were some sweet cars. John D'angstino(spelling) was there with 3 beauties. I bought some blue dots from Gene Winfield, he seemed like an allright fellow.

Well its up to the rest of you guys to make the Old Skool section better.I didnt see any requirements like "Must be likeable to everyone"rules. The Detroit Autorama downstairs started out slow and has turned into a monster.Go next year, get there EARLY,park in the shade, and enjoy yourself.Like I said in my other post.If you didnt see something there that you liked, you are blind.Or better yet build something and bring it.Put your skills where your mouth is.
An old skool section is a gift of sorts.Take advantage of it or it will go away.Stop bitching too

what we were getting about the old skool section this year is the atmosphere changed , Sparky does a great job talked to him several times over the weekend , its just that i think of this section as guys building there stuff out of their backyard or garage working late on there cars with their wife bitching at them , not high dollar garages that turned out streetrods and muscle cars now turning out cars like these , tried to talk to a few and some of the attitudes , had one of them looking over my car talking how he wouldnt build it like that and wouldnt use that those type of brakes , no my car isnt a perfect traditional yes i am running early juice brakes dual circuit and bias tires ,his car i saw billet wheels disc brakes radial tires , to each his own but the reason for old skool is to be somewhat in the period

Left my wifes car in the old skool section Friday and Saturday.
Great music in the old skool section all weekend.
The bands playing on Chevy Court, which they were blasting all over the fairgrounds made my ears bleed!
Sparky done good, and it will only get better if we support him.

Well heres my .02 I thought the show was great alot of cars etc most of the people were great a few turds but you will have that. I thought the old skool was the best alot of good cars and trucks but thye missed the boat on the best car in the old skool booth. The 32 ford ORIGINAL old skool rod right from the 50`s hemi, halibrands, halibrand rear, louvers, wide whites, shifter, buick drums list goes on and on, not a car that was put together in the last 5 years etc a original ride from back in the day was pulled out of barn 3 weeks ago from the 2nd owner. Had the original red oxide primer i will post pics asap IMO was the best of show. The other cars were great though, alot of nice work though. I think rats and old skool are mixed though. The wrecker was awesome outside the front of building by stage. Doodle bugs ?????????????? It was hot and then rain we drove 294 miles and stayed friday saturday. thats it for now

I wish I would have made it over to the Rolling Bones guys spot to chat a bit, I didn't even know they were there till I saw the pics in another thread... I also missed Norwell too! Jeff, I saw your pickup everywhere I went, but you were either headed in the opposite direction or never around it when it was parked.

    Hey Andy
I am REALLY we did not hook up.... I had a very nice time.... never been and i was impressed with the whole lot.
Lots for all... some very nice stuff and some real goofy shit.
I was hanging mostly with Keith,Ken,Casey,Mike and of course Richie from Boston..all the RB guys....I hooked with Lockwood Customs for a bit.....(scary talent Joe)... saw old friends, met some new ones.... Hooked up with Mayabb,Tramp, Don Edwards,Hot Rod Rob over at Arties Party.....

I thought the show was great this year. There were a lot of trailer queens, but the mix wasn't too bad. I spent most of Saturday wandering around checking out everything. The swap meet Saturday was disappointing. I was looking for just some generic stuff . . . I'm putting together my '41 truck on a new T bucket frame and need pretty much everything. But the pickings were slim. Last year I found a lot more. The prices were pretty fair, but the selection wasn't there.

I did find a T bucket somebody was selling that had one really bad build going on. I'll get some photos up as soon as I can. :)

  22. Overall, I enjoyed the show. Felt as though I saw most of what was offered over the course of the two days. Got to see a lot of nice cars, some POS stuff, more Camaro's and Chevelle's than I can handle. Found some inspiration, saw stuff that I wouldn't do, and find a potential purchase. Also, really got my younger sister hooked into cars, so overall, my expectations and goals were achieved. With any luck, I'll head back next year with a hamb-approved car...

  23. Also, Hotrodroadster32, I had a nice chat with the guy from your group who owns the the '46 (?) Dodge. Sorry I missed meeting you.

The Fri monsoons really sucked. I think that I finally dried out on Sunday. I was there with Doni from Throttle Gals & we all had a ball with the crowds. Sorry I missed the M&G, but I didn't see the HAMB gang near Choptop's booth.

Met a LOT of cool folks, saw a lot of great cars, & I think that I even managed to talk a few guys into bringing cars to the Detroit Autorama this spring, in the basement of course! (BTW- there really WERE some unsafe looking sh**heaps rolling around the show)

Saturday night's Figure 8 races, Lawnmower races, Burnout contest, & Flamethrowers were hilarious to watch.

  28. NEXT year we ought to set up a meeting spot/time/day, and have a BIG sign with "H.A.M.B People'', or something, on it...instead of wandering about and trying to find people who mostly aren't familiar with one another...:D

  29. Weird, I had pedals (hanging and floor mount), one column, one steering wheel, gauges, a '51 Ford 3-speed OD trans with everything to put it behind a flatty, carbs, and all sorts of bits and pieces, handles, headlights, etc... hell I even had a pair of '41-'47 Ford pickup rear fenders I ended up about giving away (they needed a lot of hammer and dolly work)... prices negotiable on most of the stuff... guy across from me had flatheads available.. another guy across from me had speed parts for most any motor you wanted to build... and by Sunday AM I had a pair of nice bucket seats, another dash cluster and some other new stuff to sell.

I always try to bring stuff there I don't bring anywhere else, and I always try to bring pieces a guy could use to build a car, especially stuff like the pedal sets that are a big pain in the ass to pull out of a car even in a you-pull-it yard.

I did forget to bring my '60 Chrysler dash over, though, I don't know why, it's been on my back porch ever since last year when I did have it there.

In the end I did end up about doubling my money on the spots, but I only sold about 1/2 to 1/3 what I should have been able to sell there. In fact I'm going to do better reselling stuff I bought Saturday afternoon there and Sunday morning at the local flea market. Guys just dumping stuff cheap.

But I did sell my spark plug tester today, so I guess that makes up for the slow weekend.

I never even got a chance to look at the cars, I probably should have just got up and walked around on one of the days, but with it so slow I didn't know whether to give up or to stay put on the chance that the one guy with more than $10 in his pocket would come by and want something I had.
