Here is a nice quite Sunday car.....Mark Watson and Mrs. M. Murray in an electric car at the 1915 Exposition in San Diego.....

They both must have taken up basket weaving......

T-Head, that this pic was printed in a newspaper tells me this isn't just an ordinary John-Jane church-going couple grabbing a photo op. Should we know this guy & wife? Is it a president? Harding or Cooledge, maybe?

For an October 1923 exhibition game, Babe Ruth
and Jack Bentley donned Giants uniforms. At
center is former pitcher Jack Dunn. Taken by Bain
News Service, the pic is in the Library of Congress.

I'd look sheepish too! How would you like to be this
unlucky motorist? Not only do you tear you car up
sliding into a light pole on a wet street, you have the
bad luck to get photographed by a National Photo
Company photographer, so your bad driving is
documented for all future generations!!! (Note
the tire chains.) Looks like he just took the right
turn too fast and hydroplaned across the inter-
section, here in Washington, D.C., 1921. Histori-
cal photo is from Shorpy, FANTASTIC place to go
spend hours looking at historical pix!!! Thanks,
    Shorpy!

    Anybody recognize the car make?

This "road loco" scene made me think of some of MrFire's interesting photos. This was in Alsace, France, WW1: "transport d'une chaudiere."

Good or bad, I'm back. Yes, we were touring Ohio, including Put-In-Bay Island. Great time. 43 cars-all 1908-12. No problems all week. Just had to put gas in each day. Even a couple chain drive cars-Simplex and Fiat.

Here are a few pics. Shenanigans for sure, but not like we got into-the family went with me.

I sincerely doubt that he would have hydroplaned without tire chains, and its absolutely impossible to hydroplane with chains...

EG, good to know you survived in one piece. Hey, I'd gladly trade this sporty number for that tired old Mercer...

Niagara Falls Railroad. "The Great Gorge Route"

On September 17th 1935 at 2 a.m., five thousand tons of rock fell approximately 150 feet north of the Whirlpool Bridge, destroying more than 200 feet of track and rail bed. This was that largest rock fall to plague the Great Gorge Route. It forced the Great Gorge Route to close for business. The Great Gorge Route line along the base of the Niagara Gorge on the American side was never repaired and was never reopened.

Here is a photo of a nice early Model 30 or 18 that I hope twin6 can tell us more about. Notice that huge one piece plate glass windshield.......

Nice Packard: 1907 model 30 touring. This predates their famous "storm-tilt" windshield. Not too aerodynamic, eh? Did you see the early street light hanging behind the car?

Great Thread. I can't believe some of the trim on the early 36 ford pics....and what appears to be the exhaust coming through the hood sides...awesome.
