Driving to KKOA show From Sac Ca (With pictures)

So far we have got the heat and humidity cranked up for you folks. About as bad as 2 years ago. I hope we get some wind later in the week because we are gonna be dying if this keeps up.

 

C'mon Paul, don't make it sound that bad...besides, it's only for the weekend...if you can't stand the weather while in Salina...stay home...!!!

What a piss poor excuse for not going somewhere...I'm driving seven hours (from Denver) in an untested car...my rebuilt engine has exactly 100 miles on it...and if something happens to it (Heaven forbid), I can rebuild it cuz I built it...tell your parents to sell the car cuz it ain't doing either of them any good sitting in the garage collecting dust...!!!

I should be on the road by around noon. I'm planing on stopping in reno when i pick up Phill and try to take a nap untill about 8. So we can miss some of the heat and drive as far as we can at night. I see a bunch of red bulls in my future. See you guys in Kansas. Thanks Scott

Then again I was the smart one driving out to Texas when it wasn't miserably hot and leavin the car at Jeff Meyers' place. Thanks again Jeff for dealin with my car the past few months! C'mon the kid is fourteen years old Give him a break or better yet pick him up and give him a ride. At fourteen he cant drive himself so he's at mercy of his parents taking him I remember being in that exact same situation at his age and it ****ed.

We drive our cars alot around town. I think my mom is more worried about her animals cause we have no one to take care of them (Rolls eyes) But I do agree. A ride would be WICKED!!

Incorrect. My mom AND dad have worked with cars all there life. Its my dads birthday and my mom is concerned about her animals (Rolls eyes) But if you look at my build thread I think you will come to find we are very interested in cars. Maybe not as much as me. But they still are

Had you said anything about your Dad's birthday or your Mom's animals, I may have worded my response differently, but you neglected to say anything about either, so interpretation is open at this point. My interpretation was that the road trip was toooo-oooooo long and one of their old cars might get "hurt" on the trip...hence, they are only "around town" cars... Next time include all pertinant info instead of implying...!!!

Forecast for Salina: Miserable with a 90% chance of heat stroke !! Its hella hot and humid this time of year. The show should make it all worthwile though! Have a safe trip.

Yeah, I could meet up in Salt Lake Tomorrow and head the rest of the way down. Only problem is the new engine isn't finished and I don't have the funds for 30+quarts of oil and gas to make it down and then again to come back.

I am tempted and I know the old girl would make it........

 

LOL...last year I drove my '55 Caddy with well used 500"...it took me 12 quarts from Denver and another 14 back home...this year the engine has been rebuilt and it currently has 100 miles on it...

Bring that Chevy and put the oil & gas on the credit card...!!!

Last year to the Salt I used 8 quarts in the 300 miles from my house.

The mpg in the last 5 years went from 20+ to 10 or so.

No credit card, no payments!

I will talk with the wife.........this is really last minute ya' know.

 

Pick me up and I'll pitch in some money for Gas
