Commer Trucks (like the one transporting the decommissioned tram) were quite popular in Australia.
I can see one as a car transporter, but, you wouldn't want to be in any hurry to get to the track.
With the 3 cyl Rootes motor (Knocker), it was a case of getting them moving and keeping the accelerator pedal flat to the floor with speed governed by the terrain. With a good downhill run, a strong tailwind and lots of luck they could almost keep up with.... well not very much actually. Besides the brakes weren't too impressive.

If I had one it would be powered by a much powerfull motor and on a later model one ton chassis, maybe I will have to visit your country some day and try to find one and have the cab shipped over to the states.

I have to have one of these and it looks like you had the same big trucks we had except for the Commer and Albions and possibly a couple others,I think the Commers and Albions were a English company and does anyone know if they were produced in Canada.

    How about one of these?

I had a relo., who had a couple of local milk delivery runs. He bought two earlier (1954 side valve V8's - Australia remember, we were lagging a bit. The French were still useing Ford side valve V8' in most of their military trucks until the 1990's.) models of these brand new. Both powder blue.

This style is a 56 in the states but I think I read that they were 57s or 58s in your part of the world.
