Hot Rods The Miller Hauler Special

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Harrison, Jul 22, 2010.

  1. Love it or hate it - & yes, it cost a billion dollars - you can't deny the craftsmanship & thought that went into it.

Somewhere between "hot rod" and "art" with many aspects bordering on utter "jewerly". Pictures just don't do it justice. It is amazing all the way around.

    I loved it.

Truck is kinda neat but with all the detail I think they should have researched safety wire a little more.

    I like the air cleaners.

Lots of interesting details, but overkill like a "dresser" Harley......

  7. Great pictures. I saw it at GNRS but I am seeing more in your shots than I did in person. Thanks!

  8. They came from a machinist with stupid money being thrown at him.

  9. does it miss 4 cylinders ? dont beat mer please :) could also stare on it for hours

  10. That is one awesome little pickup and the detail is simply amazing but I feel one either builds a trailer queen for shows only or something that you would like to drive the shit out of it and put marks on the floor boards.
Image cleaning that car all the time, each to their own and I still love it but wouldn't thank you to own it.

  11. I agree it's a great little truck, but not a lot of fun to own. I want something I can drive the wheels off.

I was thinking Mexican sadle... Still the workmanship is incredible, really great but.... man is this thing way over the top? The excesses have excesses. I bet the pin stripes have pin stripes! Didn't we love / hate this one in an earlier thread? Gary

I absolutely love the workmanship and detailing but i think it doesn't seem to work as its been taken just a little too far.

What a fun way to get paid..coming up with all those little details and building them..wish I could get a customer like that!!
I started doing the spiral cuts on all the stainless bolt heads on my car..decided it was a bit gay and finished them smooth in the end.
the printing of the image over and over on all the gauges shows a clear lack of taste and restraint..Apart from that faux pas..its pretty cool.

  20. George Poteet has commissioned and built so many car's over the years I guess the time was ripe for a over the top car.

He has spent his money with some well known builders and also some lesser known guys.

Ol' George loves cars as much as anyone and where most of us builds or try to build one car at a time he might have 5 or 6 going at a any given time.

If you have never checked out his cars and trucks,,here is his web site,, HRP

    Nice....... really too nice

I wonder if it has oil in the pan and gas in the tank and runs ?:)

It really is a work of art though.... nice

  22. Paul Kosma built the motor and it runs. No question about that. The truck can and will be driven. George would not have it any other way.

I kinda like it just b/c the name of the owner's team is "Camel Toe Racing". Gotta love that. Found this pic on the website. You know you're building one hell of an expensive truck when the entire truck is on a piece of carpet in your shop.

For me, the true enjoyment of the vehicle came when I found the Brian Stinger Hub Garage albumns. When you go through, without the paint and bling, it is a beautiful and quality build.

    Have a look:http: http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/stingershotrodshop

At first, I was not a fan. After I looked at it for a while, I REALLY like it (pre-paint)! I have found little information about the Donovan motor though.

Way too much bling for me, although I appreciate the workmanship. Even though I'm way on the lower end of the hotrodding food chain I admire people like George Poteet, Bruce Meyer, Prufer, Jay Leno, etc. They keep the high end shops in business and we can always learn something from these people, even if it's how not to do stuff. Just sayin...:D
