Old, weathered paint.......

Original paint except for the headlight eyebrows where someone mudded them at one time

 

Heres my '47, and whats left of its original paint.

 

My current project, bagged and channelled 57 Poncho. Paint will remain compliments of the Texas sun.

 

1950 whizzer pacemaker 100% original paint

 

i love the look of aged Lacquer...I was talking to a few guys about a vette thats for sale locally...They said the price was too high because it needs paint. They said its all chequed- I said Id leave it alone..Old lacquer just ages nicely...

Not sure if this is old original paint on my car,or old primer. Somebody started doing some minor body work (maybe fixing hail damage?) and then abandoned the project. It's gonna look like this for a while once I get the car running.

 

Here are some. Always a chance that one or more are faux but hard to tell.

Great thread! This is what it's all about. Preserving the history of the car. If only patina could talk.....oh the stories we would hear. There's so much history in that old paint.

 

here's an aussie '65 falcon that i picked up the other week, chucking in my 500horse windsor and leaving the body just how it is!

Here is the "before" picture of when I found it in a farmers field about 2004. . . it had sat in that same spot since 1958.

 

Here is my buddy's 58 GMC tow truck, my 49 Fleetline I drove in high school, and my 51 Chevy I am currently working on.

I love this thread... unfortunately the bare metal look turns quickly to rust here with salt air from the ocean and regular rain...
