I dont see why the nostalgia top fuel guys couldnt put on one hell of a show smokin the tires the entire quarter mile. I would love to see it. Do any of you guys think this will ever happen?

Yes, same guy, he started out in the '40s, built a rear-engined modified roadster for the the lakes and Bonneville...I think that it was Ak Miller who once called him the "dumb kid" because he asked so many questions....nothing dumb about him, though, was trying to learn from the masters and he did...

One of the baddest cars of it's era. Look at www.maziracing for its history and a bunch of other cool stuff. Dawn and Mark are two of the drag racing photographers out there. Good people too.

  4. I know the Opels were very controversial, but I dug 'em! Frank had some large brass courage units to drive what was the ultimate go-kart. E-ticket,indeed!

I am pretty sure that the FX was the Swamp Fox but I can't remember who the driver/owner was (long time ago). Incidently that is me with the long hair/beard and duct tape headband at the 2.42 minute mark. I was there crewing on the Splatt/Muirhead Bounty Hunter.

You have just cleared up one of life's great mysteries for me Rooman. I have watched that movie quite a few times over the years, and always wondered who that guy was :)

Dodgeboy, thanks for sharing the shots. Jon's was one of my sponsors back then.

Seeing the Corvette again brought back some great memories. Sorry about the bad shot. Had the red, white and blue thing going on back then. Hard to see the red pinstripes though.

Unfortunatley for Jon, that car was stolen and he never got it back.

Can't belive how big this thread is. I will add a couple of pictures of a friend of mine. Mikio Yoshiyoka with his Altered. He is standing behind a dragster he drove for an owner I'm not familiar with. Keep em coming.

Yoshiyoka and Graf campaigned one of the strongest altereds anywhere. Even their injected car was able to best many a blown car. Didnt Yoshiyoka later pilot the Tri-Form Safety RE top fuelrer? What is he doing today?

The guy in the "Win With Donovan" shirt is L. Van Luven. The car was the Van Luven & Chuck Johnson's California Charger before Keeling and Clayton got it. Norm Wilcox also drove it. The guy on the left in plad pants is the Mad Bomber, Bob Creitz

Not sure of all his rides but I know he drove some T/F cars. He is enjoying life. The only competition these days is who grows the best tomatos or persimmons. His mators are better than mine but my persimmons kick his butt every year. His old shop is next to mine and we kinda talk about the days of old. He remembers a whole lot more than me, he is still sharp. If you knew him and want to get in contact with him let me know

Thanks for refreshing my memory. Mikio has told me before but I seem to be forgetting more and more every year. I keep telling myself to many argon fumes over the decades LOL. Mikio was a great driver and weighing only 100 lbs. didn't hurt (Just kidding) I remember when people would bring iron heads for him to work on and he would complain about the head weighing more than him. Mikio still likes to stir the pot with his friends.

Never met the man. I only saw him flying past me at 200 as I sat in the bleachers.
