    Needing the # for a 5/8 shaft water pump for a 292.
Working on the friend's 58 Edsel and seems that nobody at the local NAPA shops knows how to find one. One day they had one, we made it to the shop that had it at 5 till close, but they were locked up and being ****s about it. Now nobody can seem to find a number. Perhaps if we had it to present to them we could order it....

    Thanks all

I don't think you will ever get a number. The Ford parts manuals don't even list just the shaft (at least the ones I have don't). I doubt that Ford ever sold just the shafts. Best bet is to buy a new pump or find a water pump rebuilder that may have what you are looking for.

If the shaft is bigger than the Ford cars, look at Fork truck pumps. They had a different size shaft so I understand.

    Not looking for JUST shaft.
There are 2 different pumps for the 292, one with a 5/8 shaft and one with a 3/4 shaft.

Needing part # for 292 water pump with 5/8 shaft, complete ***embly.

Edsel.com doesn't list a 292 as an option in 58. Are you sure it's a 292? If it is then it's probably a Ford transplant.

Have you tried the on-line supply places yet ? Mac , Dennis Carpenter and the ones like that are much better to work with than the kids at the local parts stores that really could care less !

I have a 292 in a 62 galaxie with a 5/8 shaft. The part # on it is 5750799 stamped on it. Dont know if this helps or not being its a 62, but it should be the same.

You might try Edsel.com They have a listing for parts and suppliers.

I have to go to the Studebaker site to find parts sometime but they are readily available but not a stock item for a retail store anymore. It must be different from a 59 Ford 292 or it would show up on the computer.

My old waterpump books don't call out a shaft size. But 59-60 Ranger W/ 292 shows a WP base number of 1271 ,Fords 58-64 show the same #.
