They need to dig it out, build up the base and concrete it in. It's been a problem for years, there's also another one at the 39th st over pass on I5 in vancouver, wa. The hodrod lady (AKA 29cherrybomb)crashed her RPU there real bad awhile back.

  2. yeah and her and many west coast hotrodders are going over those on the way to pullaup[sp]

Nice to hear you folks are on the mend :) ! Hope you get your car fixed soon. Is that nasty bit of Northbound I-5 the spot where it makes a little bend to the right then goes over the bridge with metal arch? I had a butt puckerin moment pulling my car trailer through there not to long ago.

Our group went by a few minutes after the crash. The driver was out of the car and holding a towel to his head , and people were in attendance to help. It was about 5:00 AM , and still quite dark. The road is a little bumpy and uneven , and the bridge is narrow. Not a good combo . It was a sobering experiance seeing that beautiful sedan laying on it's side in the early morning darkness. Good to hear that they're recovering .

Thought so. Got out of the throttle a little before the curve went through the dip and the trailer wanted to be in front of the truck real quick:eek: Deja Vu, after I calmed down I remembered seeing a station wagon/jacknifed travel trailer combo at that very spot probably close to 40 years ago! My sis used to live in Washougal, spent some time on that BORING stretch of I-5 between Seattle & Portland when I was a kid. Hopefully someone can help this fellow out with a quarter panel for that Deuce and get him back on the road. Have a nice weekend all, John

Word in Canada was that they hit the metal grates on a bridge and lost it. Both were in Hospital , but haven't heard the outcome. Our prayers are out to them.

  10. Keith, I am glad to hear you and your lady are on the mend and fright of such a wreck will pass quickly. Those short wheel base cars come around quick so sounds like a good piece of driving on youe behalf to keep the car upright. Take care, Rob.

Keith, Glad to hear that you are both healing. Glad to know that you've still got the spirit to keep rodding. :)

Woodland area has some of the worst freeways (Tacoma is THE worst). When every I travel the Woodland section I have to dive, dodge and duck the pits. Sorry that a rad rod had to pay the price, and nice people had to suffer.

Last year on the way to Puyallup we were held up there for an hour waiting for a SUV & trailer to be uprighted & cleared out of the way. There are several bridges along there that have bumps, but I'm usually in the fast lane testing my radar detector. On the many trips to Cal, I have found I-5 to be sometimes OK & other times really bad. The jiggle state is bad on roads. Most of their overpasses have bumps, but are straight on & once you hit the first one your ready for the second.

Keith- it's great to hear that you two are healing up and will be fine! I'm also glad your spirit seems totally unharmed. It will be great to see all three of you back to where you were before the crash- especially you and the wife!

I too am glad to hear that everyone is on the mend.

So the car hit a nasty pot-hole and the axle snapped? Is that what happened to cause the crash?

  24. I'm a fan of the I-beam look....and after seeing your mangled deuce I'd never roll on anything but a forged axle.

A good tube axle could do the trick for durability though.

After seeing your accident, and other pictures of broken axles, I don't think I want to roll on any cast axle.

I think I would lean toward a FORGED axle, but I don't think a tube axle would break that way either.

Glad to hear you are both ok and on the mend.

I had a tube axle break where the end is welded on. I was making a u-turn so it was slow.

  28. ^well that settles it. Forged I-beam all the way.

Any updates on Kieth and his wife, how they are doing? Also any one know how the re-build of the car is coming along? I was glad to hear they are healing and i hope they get back to normal as soon as possible.

Sounds like the folks are not in a life threatening situation, thank God. Couldn't they do some warning signs or make a super slow speed limit thru the danger zone? Hiway departments are slow to react to situations untill a few deaths are recorded and then they act, sad. Good luck on the rebuild on your 32, looks like it can be saved. I have never chromed an undercarridge, only because I never have any dough. But sounds like it is "for show only", not for road warriors. Bad deal for all involved, my best thoughts and good wishes on rebuilding yourselves and your beautiful ride. ~Sololobo~
