Lady at the title office said to me you sure get allot a cars out a state,I said honey you have to go where they are it aint like shoppin at wal-mart
Here's an idea - rather than possibly wasting two hours of your precious and valuable time to go and see it for yourself, why don't you post the the name, address and phone number of guy and the exact location of car. Then a bunch of HAMBERs - most driving a whole lot more than just two hours I'm sure - will go and check it out for you. Then if it was a good deal, after they've bought it and dragged it home, I'm sure they'll post here and tell you what you missed. They may even post some pics of it for you! Haha... I took a 35 hr. round trip in Nov to not buy a "really solid" truck. Drove there spent 10 min looking and turned right around and came home.... no stops but gas and food. Still had a great time driving along w/ my dad. Go look at it.... no excuses
no - just wait until your buddy drags it home - then you can kick your ownself in the ass... and another not as a seller - I try and not build my sell items up to much - helps out the beat down...
I did a 15-hour trip one day, with trailer in tow, to go look at a 36 Oldsmobile that really looked good in the pictures the guy sent (pre email/internet), and he described the car over the phone as really nice. I pulled into the guys yard, got to within 20 yards of the car, turned around and left. It was an absolute POS. I didn't even stop the truck or talk to the guy, probably would have gotten shot if I had, I'm sure there would have been trouble, I was pissed. Two hours one way is a mice-nuts small trip, do it, then show us the pics and tell us the story.
Getting up in a few short hours to do a 750 mile round-trip for a rare Rupp mini bike for my nephews. Plan to be sleeping in my own bed same day. Looking forward to the greasy roadside burgers. furyus
My dad just drove 2 1/2" hrs looking for a rear end for his '66 mustang based on some story some random guy told him. Came up dry.... 2hrs for a car that he knows exsists? Yeah...get in the car and go. Even if you don't buy it at least you can say you saw it and say for sure that you know it's worth the money or not.
I once drove about two hours one way because my friend had overheard a conversation in a pub about a scrap yard that had some flatheads, he knew the town and that it was near an iron bridge that was it. When he told me I said lets go.... We came home with seven 24 stud flatheads on my trailer!. (they are not too common over here in England.)
We have a saying here in Montana, All Hat and No Cattle! 2 hour drive...Are you really a car guy or do you just play at being one?
take the drive, stop at some hole in the wall places to eat,(usually best burgers) and just enjoy yourself. it could be a POS, the "rot" this guy is talking about might be surface rust also, you never know, I know people who were hesitant about selling a car because of rough paint, didn't want to give anyone a "bad" deal. A lot of older folks are like this.
two hours?? Damn I fly from NY to Iowa to look at a car...................I drove it home 13 years ago & still have it.
