  2. I haven't been to 3 wide in ages, good site and a good board. But this one is better it fulfills all my pirateeeee needs! You do find 3wide stuff all over the net though, they do have credit on their photos if it's from 3wide. ARRRRrrrrrrr

  3. Denny it's not too late, we could get you behind the wheel of a vintage modified. We should get you in the old Flemke car with the stacks. Got a few buddies that have them, the old Rene Charland 888 and 7-10 Junior Ambrose coupe.

Is this a former Richie Evans Coupe painted over or just a similar paint scheme on this #24?

Some more upstate NY Mods, etc...

Mark Newton #55 seemed to find the wall in a big way when he raced!

It was a Will Cagle #24 after it was an-ex Richie Evans ride.

  7. When I first got on the 'net', I tried to go to 3 Wide sveral times. I wasn't used to being on a computer, and I bounced around until I found RFTP, and eventually from there, I found the HAMB. That is how I found my way here.

Well, kinda. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think, originally, the car was yellow, with flurescent pink and blue stripes. They later had the car white, with the same scheme. Swain devoloped ceramics coatings for a company called "Henium", which led him to form his own company called "SwainTech". Car was very bright.

Actually, Brian, the coating that you're referring to was called "heanium", and the company was Heany Industries. Dan Swain was a lead engineer for them, before going out on his own.....

Bullfather, You may not know this but I'm back in the saddle again Saturday nights at Whip City Speedway in Westfield MA. I'm 71 years old and having a ball. It's what they call a Quad 4 midget, a midget with a Oldsmobile Quad 4 motor on 1/4 mile dirt track, no wing.

Skip Matczak fields two Quad 4 midgets at Whip City, the primary one is driven by Joe Krawiec who has won quite a bit up there (he is a hard charger and has a great future in front of him) the second car a sister is a "guest car" for old farts like me from yesteryear. From time to time their will be other old farts but for now it's me.

This guest car is a winning car but it's been 38 years since I sat in a race car so it takes a while to get back in the groove....but I'm coming and having a ball.

I had the pleasure of getting to know this driver on a personal level. My best friend's sister started dating Teddy Wenofske in the mid 70's. What a thrill it was for a 10 year old boy to see a race car driver over his best friend's house, have dinner with him on multiple occasions, have him coach his softball team, etc. Memories that never fade. The only trouble for Teddy was that I was a die hard Charlie Jarzombek fan and stubborn as a bull, so try as he may, he couldn't get me to switch my allegiance. I always told him if Charlie dropped out I would root for him and he had my vote in the late model division when he ran the Scibelli Bros # 3 Chevelle. My mom on the other hand was the only non Jarzombek fan in the family and in fact a big fan of Teddy's. We always sat on the top row at Islip in between the 4th turn and the starter's stand. My mom would yell down from the bleachers when she saw Teddy walking on the midway at Islip. She volunteered to take me to my friend's house every day!

Unfortunately Teddy got in a pretty serious wreck in the Conway superspeedway Hornet (I believe at Trenton in 1977) and suffered some head injuries and was never the same after that. My friend said Teddy told him he would have flashbacks while driving on the highway and he would wind up slamming on the brakes. I don't recall him driving in the mods much aftet that. I also believe he passed a way a few years ago, but I am not certain, so i don't want to spread false rumours.

    Here some photos....

Teddy in a neat coach (I believe owned by Billy Auer)

An interesting shot of the Billy Auer pinto. I believe this appeared in the last page of an issue of Stock Car Magazine. Notice the female in this picture...I believe she may have gotten her bloomers blown off by the sleek mod...

Teddy racing with George Tet in the Conway X9 (an owner Teddy would eventually drive for) and Buzzy Hedges in the #37 coupe

And the car that would actually bring him a lot of attention ant the Islip track championship in 1974 the Raven Pinto owned by Billy Auer (I believe there was actually two identically prepared pintos) This shot is actually at Freeport

And in victory lane at Islip
