Nothing too exotic about that mix. Remember that acetone is pretty flammable.

The swirl is probably the evaporation going on. The Acetone is leaving.

    Maybe cover it over?

I like Acetone and brake fluid mix. Try that if your combo don't work.

    good luck.

As someone mentioned, Acetone has a low boiling point and that's probably what you're seeing. If possible try and keep it as cool as you can and even lay something over it to slow the evaporation down. Also, be careful since it's flash point in low and try and keep it off your hands. It'll pull all the moisture and oil out of your skin.

I use ATF mixed with BBQ Lighter Fluid. It's homogeneous with the ATF so it mixes better, it thins it out better without evaporating as quickly, and it has better capillary characteristics, so it will crawl up the threads on a bolt.

But to answer your question, the swirling is due to the non homogeneous mix and evaporation of the acetone. No worries.

Anybody know what "BSA" stands for? One of those terms we've used forever but not many have thought about what it meant. Answer in ten minutes! DD[IMG]
