This is why hidden kill switches have always been a favorite of mine.

Hidden kill switch, and oh yeah, don't be a f*cking dumbass and leave a car like that out of your sight parked behind a f*cking bar. Talk about avoidable thefts, you'd think he wanted it stolen.

He kinda deserved it, then! My junked out little 4-cylinder sedan with 310k on the clock and rust everywhere you look never gets left unattended without the windows up and all doors locked! If I had a '59 Imp, I'd be even more anal-retentive about keeping it in MY possession! I'd DAMNED sure never leave it for ANY period of time, much LESS four hours, with the top down!!!!

To the owner of this car, I quote the line my dad always hit me with, when I did something stupid as a kid...
"Well... not gonna do THAT again, are ya?"

I dont agree, he didnt deserve it. No one should steal period, I dont care if he did leave it open and such. I know times change compared to back when you could leave your front door open, but eticate is still the same, we just now have low lifes to deal with. If we could cut there hands off like in other countries there be alot less stealing

There's about an 8 or 9 page thread over on Layitlow about this... couple guys think they know (or speculate) someone that the car could have been taken to...supposedly they've called the tip line with the info.

    Sucks, regardless.

Yeah, that may have been a bit harsh! Still, you've got to use a little common sense! The world is full of slime who will gladly screw you over without a second's hesitation. Sure, they're a minority, but they sure are persistent in their assholery!

In some Asian countries, they rip your fingernails out one by one for steaing a pack of chewing gum. Our criminals get cable TV and Gymnasiums! No wonder there's such a large prison population in our country!

What kind of an idiot would leave something like a '59 Impala parked unattended in an alley? No alarm (for the most part an alarm is wothless but an alarm with a pager could have saved his car)? No kill switch? Not even something like a Lojack?

And if you miss the muzzle blast should roast his sorry ass.

He's living every "car guy's" worst nightmare but I can't help piling on, parking a collector car in an alley behind a bar is just asking for trouble...

    I know.
One part of you wants to feel bad for the guy, another other part of you can actually relate to the guy, and one part of you just wants to point your finger and go "Ha-ha".

  21. I wouldn't say he deserved it, but you have to expect there's going to be consequences when you do stupid things. Leaving an expensive convertible that a guy can hotwire with one piece of wire, out with the top down in an alley where no one can see it, is pretty dumb.

  22. my 59 chevy isn't an impala or a convertible.....

but i leave it unattended with keys in it all the time at car shows or cruise nights , i pull the keys when i drive it to work or shopping or out to dinner or to the bar or whatever but windows down doors unlocked is the way it sits all the time .....am i asking to have it stolen.....absolutely not ....probably more negligent than this guy for sure ......but to say he deserved it or was being an idiot without having been there to know the real situation is f'd up . ......it says in the report that he parked it in a lot behind a billiards joint with a car show going on , and that he just went in to get a drink, either way , i feel for him !!!

I agree, no one deserves to have their car stolen. We work too hard on these old things to have some asshole just cruise off with it and be told that we deserve it.

That gets to be pain after a while...... I'd use a piece of wire about yeh long and your cigarette lighter to ground out the coil and be done with it. I'm sure you guys can figure it out.. :D

I dunno about being worth $150k, fortunately looks like the thief was a putz out for a joy ride. Hope it turns up soon.

the news here in cailifornia has been covering a lot about classic cars being the target of theives. they say its the "hot" thing. before that there was a mint '57 that was stolen and the person was interviewed at bobs big boy in burbank.
SO EVERYBODY KEEP AN EYE OUT AND WATCH YOUR OLD CARS!
