Henry J got new ignition today. Tomorrow it gets some jetting.

The 55 chevy has a new puke tank, added bars the cage, and a harness. Just need to finish rebuilding the muncie.

    Both cars will be there!

Saturday should be very neat to see all the cars I'm working on the dragster as I write this. Can't wait to see the Zettle Brothers Gto in person something I've always wanted to check out. I hope we can find a parking spot when we get there sounds like a full house for saturday.

I wanted to get this info out there.....The Meltdown is an event being put on at the Byron Dragstrip to have fun and meet new car enthusiasts. Our group of friends have all spent their own time and money on window decals, flyers, and t-shirts etc. We are not making a dime from the event, the cost of admission was set by the track owner and we were happy they are giving us the opportunity to have an event and race. All money taken at the gates from the event goes to help keeping the dragstrip open....how many dragstrips across the country have closed since they could not make any money...they still pay taxes, wages, electricity, insurance etc.....
I heard a rumor that some people thought our group of guys were making money and had control of the admission fee's. We do not.
Just thought I would squelch any B.S.

what a bunch of ****. Why do those kind of rumors start in the first place. Is it not obvious that this is a great opportunity to have fun?

unfortunately, the track owner has a reputation for NEVER allowing free racing for anybody. We won't be racing for free, either. Personally, I think the track will benefit greatly by this event, especially if they help it grow for next summer.

    thanks for squelching the rumor.

Hey - I am going to be there selling some hot rod DVDs and stuff.....stickers, patches etc

What time will people start getting there to set up?

I dont want to have to wait outside the gate for an hour if I get there at 6am

Looking forward to seeing some cool action.

Hoping to set up somewhat close to the track so I dont have to walk too far between filming and keeping an eye on merch.

At the Hunnert Heads Up I had to close down the booth each time I went out to film some stuff..........

Too bad about the Willys - but Bobwop - I unederstand man - you gotta pay the bills baby!

I am sure you will come up with some other cool cars later down the road!

    Seeya soon!

    John:

the gates open at 9AM, racing around 10AM. The performance will start early in the PM.

how about helping us out by putting the tee-shirts we had made up with your merchandise? That would really take a load off of us. Maybe we can offer you some help so you can go take some photos?

    just an idea.

So is the admission fee the same as stated on the flyer here or is it what the guy at Byron dragway just told my buddy? Guy at the track said $25 spectator fee and the main event is snow mobile drags. This was less than 15 minutes ago.

Ryan is getting an update....there is alot of confusion around this since the old Original 2010 Agenda had a different event listed for this day, AND on Sunday the Vintage Funny Car show probably has a $25 entry fee.....update coming. Getting the word right from the horses mouth...LOL

OFFICIAL From Track owner - ON SATURDAY July 31st...there is no Headliner. There will be snowmobiles racing in the am, but once they are done they are done, they run them thru quick, there may also be junior dragster test & tune in the AM, and Pontiac Superstocks test & tune.

Spectator Fee - with or without car show entry $10.00
    Racing Fee Meltdown - $30.00

SUNDAY - Nostalgic Funny Car event spectator entry fee - $25.00

As mentioned a few pages back, since this is the First Meltdown we did not get a closed track. Track did not figure we would have any noteable attendance, I think they will be shocked if 3/4 of the people who say they are coming do!!!

We were also told.....if for some reson the am activities take longer Meltdown guys can run late into the night.....so that is GREAT!!! A great long day of fun!

Yes....I guess they can run at night now, it is light until after 8pm here, so not sure if it will go later....not sure if they have lights up or not....guess we could always line each side of the track with cars headlights on pointing on the track....that would be a sweet picture.

51 box....if you leav now you can make it!!!

The track doesnt have light... they wont race to much in to the dark

PLEASE racers or spectators when you pull in to give them your money tell them your there for the Meltdown. The better the turn out looks the better it will be for us to get a closed track just for us the next time.

Thanks in advance to all for showing up!!!...

Ill be at tech so please come up and say hi I cant wait to meet all of you.
