I'm not sure what the make of the truck is, or exactly
what is going on in this picture, but the caption on
the picture was "Albion Bolt Company Factory - Albion
    Michigan U.S,A.- Circa 1920
    ". The Albion Bolt Company
was an early supplier to the auto industry in nearby
Detroit and sometime in the early 1920's, the Albion Bolt
company and factory were taken over by wheel producer
Kelsey-Hayes and the plant used to make car and truck
    wheels.

The Liberty Motor Car Company was a United States automobile
maker in Detroit, Michigan from 1916 to 1924. Only one model
named Liberty Six was offered, propelled by a monobloc 3394cc
6-cylinder engine. Late in 1923, the company was acquired by
    Columbia Motors.

Clearly any light commercial with an open deck on the back is a ute to some these days but to others it's a body style distinct from a pickup.

It has to be a Thomas. Possibly a model 6-40 Tourabout. Probably a 1907, or close to it, same year as the one that won the Great Race of 1908.
The headlights and cowl lights match, the distinctive cowl shape, the chain drive, the length of the hood. Also the spring mounts, the shape of the front fenders, seat design, number of spokes on the wheels, wheel design, etc........
Here is a link to another picture of a Thomas, mid way down the page, a red one.
(Can't post the picture as it is a newer pic)

And to a certain extent, weren't all Thomas of this era somewhat a custom bodied product?

Thanks for the take, SWI. What do you make of the "B" hubcaps, though? That's baffling.

  19. You guys know WWII started in 1939, right?

Mart, thanks for posting about the Liberty, Detroit, of '16 to '24. I don't disagree on anthing there. But, I have a mystery that's been bugging me, namely a speedster called Liberty LaFrance with a huge mill in it. You or any of the gang here herd of it? And, was it a special ed. out of the regular Liberty stable?

The radiator is a different shape, it's more rounded down from the filler and that section shorter on the 'B' car and the hood longer.
