After reviewing the vacation time I have left for the rest of the year it looks like I'm going to spend some time in the New England area in Sept and I'd like to attend the Ty-Rods Sunday Sept 12th event. I've looked at some of the photos from the event coverages here on the HAMB from the last few years and I'm pretty excited about meeting some of you guys in the area and checking out your cars. I do have a few questions though. What town does everyone stay in on Saturday night? Is there any particular motel/hotel that has all the action?? Is there any other events in the area of NY, VT, NH, ME or MA on that Saturday? Any cool car related shops, garages, collections, museums, ect in the area that I shouldn't miss? What about awesome places to eat? BBQ? What about a stretch of highway that's so awesome to cruz on that I shouldn't miss it? Last but not least does anyone know the name of the Ty-Rod dude that owns a '47 Olds convertible? Any other info that you can think of that I might need please feel free to share. I'd certainly apprecaited it. Oh yeah, who am I going to see/meet at this event and what are you driving??

Thats is an awesome event in this area and I'd recommend it.... Been there before and if the memory is somewhat in working order its a pre reg deal only. Its a nice area but for me it was a day trip deal so no clue (no comments) on night life... Nice event in Maine Aug 20-21 Downeast Street Rods Rod Run (old sch) ..... Not far from Jim Hanson (?) LOL Pontiac Slim
Thanks for the info.....209 alittle too long to drive on that Saturday. I'd rather be closer to the event and enjoying some cars and peeps in some parking lots. We'll for sure meet at teh Ty-Rod event as least. I'd do just about anything to hang with Jim Hanson as you can imagine BUT I would never miss the HAMB Drags for anyone.

Check out the Orange Reunion for sure, a lot of info on john'scustomrods.com. Shapeing up to be a good gathering, lot of cars and those that ran them back in the day are scheduled to be in attendence. A rare opportunity to step back 50+ years for a day. Not far at all from Ty Rods location. Buddy and I are planning on digging out his old flatty rail [rust and all] along with some pictures and such for show and tell. Ed Purinton
You'll be in easy driving distance of two fantastic BBQ places: Texas Barbecue Company (Northborough, MA): http://www.texasbbqco.com/ Smokestack Urban Barbecue (Worcester, MA): http://www.bbqstack.com/ (basic website, look them up on Facebook for more info) For other food . . . Like hot dogs? Then you cannot miss a visit to Coney Island Lunch (also in Worcester). Best dogs in the Northeast, plus a killer animated neon sign: http://www.coneyislandlunch.com/ Like amazing beers? Go directly to Armsby Abbey, the selection will blow your mind. Be sure to try the pizza: http://armsbyabbey.com/ Worcester (pronounced "Wuss-tah") is a hotbed of great restaurants and a number of killer vintage diners, my favorites are the Parkway Diner and The Corner Lunch. For more Worcester dining ideas, this website has lists of good stuff: http://tasteworcester.com Finally, no trip to central M*** is complete without a stop at Ralph's, legendary rock club & site of many great hot rod shows over the past few years: http://www.ralphsrockdiner.com/ I hope we get to see a pic of Big Olds in front of this: P.S. - if anyone points at your car and says "wickid pissah!", don't be offended . . . that's very high praise.
hey denise, don't know if it's to soon in sept. but if your heading east, Lead East is labor day weekend in jersey. don't know if youv'e been there yet but definately one of the better east coast customs shows. and i haven't seen any kkoa thread from you? hope all is well, jerseymike
So are any of you guys planning on attending the Ty-Rod event?? You're so funny.....I would really love just to knock on his door and surprise the **** right outta him BUT if he lives by you I already know I'm not making it that far up into Maine this trip. I'll probably just make it into the very bottom this time...or whereever I can find a "Welcome to Maine" sign. Oh yeah....you caught the part where I'm coming in Sept not Oct right?? Thanks Ed, looks like where I'm going to spend my Saturday for sure. Thanks I know if I talk to anyone there I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb for sure. Too much going on here. I don't plan on doing a KKOA event thread....sorry bud.
Hey Denise, I'll see you at the Ty-Rods Show for sure. I might make it to Orange Dragstrip Reunion the day before. There's tons of great history going way back. I'll be w/ Spike working on the book. I owe you lunch at least! Thanks again for your help, Joe Alig www.powerandnoise.com
Get your history on! Walden Pond, Lexington, Concord, Boston, Go for a big bucks up meal at the Wayside Inn (restored by H Ford) Sturbridge village, etc
sorry guys were not in worcester anymore are show is now in Natick m*** you can search alter boys on here to see more. thank you and see ya at ty rods
I will be there, can't wait, it's a new show for me, but have heard many great things about it! See you there! Eric
I went last year for the 1st time and it was my favorite show of the year. The vehicles ranged from garage built rat rods to custom high bucks rolling art and everything in between. I'll be there with my 61 Bel Air 409. Its in the country by my standards so Worcester is definitely your best bet and from the buzz I've been getting at car gatherings the Orange reunion is shaping up as a not to be missed.
we are going off on the reunion..im partners with john.....trust me this is going to be off the hook folks......
