I 'm making a cylinder head for my hill climb car. This is the start, so far mounting holes and push rod holes. If there is any interest will post pictures as we move along with the head.

Absolutely. Consider this practice for the 12 port Chevy Six head that you might contemplate for your next "how-to" build! :D

Kidding aside, I really appreciate a guy willing to just DO IT!

    Well, sure!
Would you mind telling us why you feel you can make a better head than what is commercially available? I am not being a smartass here. thers' more than few few talented people on here to show us how but i think you can tell us the 'why' behind something. Thanks, oj

Is this for a Ford Banger?

If not, what is it for?

Eh, I think any guy willing to make his own cylinder head and document the process to share here gets a pass on having to justify the particulars of why.

Looking forward to the progress shots and updates.

Because I have always wanted to. Plus most of the heads for Model A engines are copies of old designs. I hope my head breathes much better. We will find out.

Yes it is for a Model A engine

  13. Go for it .

When I see things like "Would you mind telling us why you feel you can make a better head than what is commercially available?"
I almost go blind with anger.

I don't even care if it doesn't perform better. Just the idea that you are doing it kicks ass. Better than "make this 4 door shitbox look cool" thread. Please, real tech.

Well we will do it, seems like a lot of people would like to see how. You have to start with two pieces, because you have to mill the water jacket, it will not be easy, but will be fun. I,M not going to be selling heads, this is just for me, but you could make one for your self.

The more you can do on your OWN, the more it is "your" hotrod in the end because that's what hotrodding is all about imho. Even if it's a failed project, you got off your ass and kick started your mind with new ideas and concepts...

Nothing wrong with making something from scratch. That is what brought me to this hobby in the first place building and fabricating stuff. Just because you cant do it doesn't mean it cant be done.

Yes, please. I've often wondered about a F head conversion for the mopar L head motors, your project will be interesting.
