Vintage shots from days gone by!

Just in case any ones interested... They are changing out the 'pinchers' that clamp onto the under ground cable (somewhere around 30 miles of it!) through a slot in the street between the rails. The pinchers ( that actually contact the cable) are made of red oak if memory serves.
Now! I think I understand how a rotery valve engine might work... but are there any better pix? This is a great thread!

 

I don't know about now but in the 60's your vehicle had to have a minimum of 15 HP. to get on a freeway in Ca.

YellerSpirit, sure looks like a Seagrave to me. V-12 based on the Pierce-Arrow design they bought from Pierce when they went under iN the mid-'30s???
