Awesome, Jim-Bo! I honestly think that every HAMBer
wishes that as many cars as POSSIBLE that we see in
these boneyards could -- can-- be saved, if only for usable
parts cars. This seems to be a genuine HAPPY ENDING!!!
    (Or, better, BEGINNING!)

What a great thread! I can't get enough!
I like to picture these cars in my mind brand new being driven off the lot by the proud new owners. Showing them off to the neighbors.
Even though they can't talk, they still speak volumes.

So many yards I used to frequent are long gone.
Housing developments and malls now occupy the land. :(

I miss those Saturdays spent scrounging.

Thanks for the cool post, Sweepspear. Man,
in just a few words, I think you marvelously
summed up why this thread exists and why
we love to go roamin' in those yards that still
    exist! Post ANY time!!!

You can say THAT again, WingNutz! Darn Toby for teasin'
us!!! LOL Anywho, here's some more VT sittin' in various
states. Some look like decent project cars, too!

It's for real: A junkyard car with the Hemi still there,
and it will turn over & fire w. gas priming. Looks like
a '54 Royal, and current Ohio owner bought it at auction.
Now has it on eBay (if interested, look for macstow).
Not a commercial for anybody, but if I can point a fellow
HAMBer to a project car (or just a Hemi for another rod),
that would be great. I think this would be a 270-CID.

'48 Silver Streak in upstate NY. Not hard to imagine the
smiles and the airy top-top ride for the original owners,
eh? Ghosts of days gone by. (If you need key parts, this
car's on eBay now; seller lunasmoona. Again, not a
commercial, as I don't even know the person.)

Just when you think you've seen it all . . . my jaw dropped
when I saw this '47 Continental, sitting out there in the arms
    of Mother Nature!

Apparently "For Sale by Owner," I ran across this Lincoln on a site
called AZCars&Trucks.com, which promos themselves as "The Premier
Online Vehicle Listing Service" (sounds like consignments, maybe?).
Anyway, this car's not for sale cheap, but maybe a HAMBer is particularly
hot on these. As always, I just like to show cars that have been put out
to pasture. I don't know if the site means "Arizona," but the pix resemble
a dry state, so maybe? If someone can rescue them & put 'm back on
    the road, that's a BONUS!

Who ever said lightning doesn't strike twice
in the same place? Another Continental, this
    one a '46 4D, at AZCars&Trucks. The body
on this "Hotrod Lincoln" seems better than
the '47 2D, AND the sweet V-12 flatty is safe
at home under the hood! Hard to believe
what is sometimes still found in an old boneyard!

Yesterday, it was Lincolns & Continentals. Today, holy
mackerel! What have we here??? Dog427 posted this
over on the "Sitting and Rotting" thread, and I fell off
my chair. Looks like a Lincoln concept project, maybe
from '54 or '55 for the short-lived Premier series of '56
    and '57???

Folks, it appears the car in Post 706 DID get rescued and, in fact, appeared at the Medowbrook Concours in 2009! So . . . junkyards aren't ALWAYS like the Elephants' Graveyard. SOME cars do make it back!!!

Hey there, BornTrouble, good to see you back again.
LOVE exploring the boneyards! Even places I've been
before, seems the light is different at various times of
the day. So you can see potentential usable parts better
(I never remember a flashlight; am I the only dumbass
    who does that? Ha-ha).

Now, is it just me, or do other folks hate it when cars
and trucks are stacked? I've seen it done with better
cars, too. So, if you wanted to see what's under the
hood (or wanted the hood), it's either impossible, or
you take your life in your hands getting at either the
    one above OR below.

Obviously, these pickups are pretty picked over, so I
suppose the owner figured there was nothing left to sell
anyway, and the next step was when scrap prices go up.
But maybe you see my point.

  17. That's good news.
It hurts to look at some of these gems.

JitterBug, welcome to this thread, buddy.
You really get the appeal of haunting the
old auto graveyards, just like the ones Arlo
Guthrie mentioned in his song, "The City of
New Orleans," back in the early '70s. It's
like we can FEEL the spirits of the folks who
design, built AND bought these cars originally!

Yeah, like those pickups that started out as
SOMEBody's pride and joy (musta given them
one of those ear-to-ear smiles, least 'til the
first paint nick!). Folks, at the risk of sounding
corny (wouldn't be the first time), this is
AMERICAN HISTORY out there rusting away.
We can't save it ALL, but if threads like this
encourage some folks as soon as they can to
get out there and save project cars or parts
cars before they are gone, well, maybe it's
worth all the time. I love rods, customs and
restos, so if they are saved, it's ALL cool.

Earl Browing's junk yard, Harney Co., Oregon. I provided
a link to the state historical society, because you can buy
a art-quality print from the original negative by R. Heck.
GREAT framed for the wall! And for a quality print, the
    prices are very reasonable, too.

Jimmy, God bless you for bringing this to everyone's attention on this thread! Before saying anything ELSE, I want to point out Yvette's quote to follow up on what I JUST said in Post #711 (and I hope to hannah that no one takes this as non-PC -- ya just don't know nowadays!). And it's not a commerical, folks. I don't know Yvette.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." ~Galatians 6:9

We ALL love old cars, and they are rusting away in every state of the union and (this thread proves) around the globe. I am WAY beyond impressed with Yvett's TREMENDOUS background and life philosophy.

But here's a woman who's trying to bring oldies with good potential (projects or parts cars) into a forum where the max number of rabid car people can at least SEE them. Then she tries to broker a fair price for the people who own the cars (she obviously couldn't have them tucked away in good ol' DRY Death Vally, right?). Does she make money in the deal? Hell yes.

I wish that more people like her could join such efforts, so that the best project and parts cars can get rescued before they rust down to nothing. (Soap box stuffed away now! Sorry!)

Yo, guys & gals, I hadn't visited the thread, "Sitting and Rotting" in quite some time, so I went there a couple of days ago. Dog429 has fairly recently posted scores of pix that'll knock you out of your motorcycle boots! If you haven't looked in a while, do yourself a favor & go over and take a look at the later pages in that thread!
