WOWEE! What have we here??? Dog427, I just fell off my chair. Looks like a Lincoln concept project, maybe from '54 or '55 for the short-lived Premier series of '56 and '57??? Why hasn't somebody grabbed this???

Dog & Johnny, that's a relief to know the rare prototype/show car made such a dramatic recovery! Either of you know if more than one was done, or was this the only ONE?

Old junkyards -- especially the ones with any '20s to '60s cars left -- are really close to my heart. Dog, what you said in post #730 is really painfully true, bro. It seems you here of another old-timey boneyard crushed out smewhere in the U.S. or Canada about one a month. It was SUPER bad when the Chinese were buying steel as fast as the U.S. scrappers could supply it. It can get depressing at times.

The old Dodge truck sat forever on U.S. 50 east of Marathon, OH. The row of trucks was in Carlisle, PA., in '08. The roadster and Dodge wagon were on ebay.

  22. WOW! A lot of these cars could be saved by just rubbing them with dryer sheets ;)

Those parts were for sale for 30 years and no one bought any one them. All the rear ends for the most parts are rotted. All of the junk has been sitting in a swampy woods for 30 years, some of the stuff is rotted beyond belief. I really hate to see it go but there really is nothing left of the stuff.

We did get a good 283 out of an impala, we hooked the hoopie (yard wrecker) to it and gave it a pull off the sway bar. The front frame with motor and tranny ripped out of the car and left the rest there. So we went back and hooked to the a-pillers, the body came out and left the seats, gas tank, and rear end sitting in the ground.

It's just that everyone loves to talk about how there are good parts and why are you crushing the stuff, but no one ever coughs up some cash and hauls stuff out of there.

If you want to bitch about then go buy all the stuff, it's junk that has literately rotted into nothingness, all the good engines/trannies/rearends get saved but the bodies/frames are absolutely gone. This stuff is slowly turning into soil.

A so you guys know only the cars that have disintegrated are going to the crusher, anything still intact will be put into a row and kept. We are getting rid of the junk rotted into the ground stuff.

I have found through out the years that sometimes the sellers want way more then the market will bear for parts and cars so they sit there and rot to nothing and worth nothing in the end, since I dont know how the parts were priced but if they are priced reasonable they should sell easily. I am glad you are keeping the ones that have salvageable parts but if you dont want them to sit there another 30 years please dont think they are gold and ask astronomical prices for the parts, some of us dont have unlimited funds to build our projects and need the parts to be very reasonably priced. There was this used car lot near me that had alot of older cars that never moved, the owner thought they were gold so some had sat there for about 30 years and rotted to the point some were not restorable. All were mint when put on the lot and eventually the county came by and considered it a junkyard and most of the cars I heard were crushed so both the owner and potential buyers lost on that deal, the owner lost the money he had in the cars and no one got to enjoy the cars.

My Avatar is a 40 Ford woody I recently saved after digging it out. Not much left, but worth grabbing. In response to the last few photos of cars being crushed. I've owned several salvage yards. I've posted some tips on other threads on how to save yards from being crushed out. #1. Don't just go to look. Buy something even if it's a rusty hubcap to hang on the shop wall. #2. Don't be a BEBACKER. If you want something you can't afford that day leave a deposit. Most yards are happy to write a receipt. #3. Don't be a SQUEAKER. We all want a good deal, but do you negotiate at the grocery store? If the owner is testing you merely say "I'll think about it", usually he'll counter with "What will you offer". If you piss him off at the start with a low ball offer, good luck. Respect goes a long ways. I knew several hoarders that would sometimes give me stuff because I paid their price the first time. Besides it'll help the economy. LOL.

Caletcb Not sure of the exact year, but the hubcaps were off of a Mopar. Satellite I believe, early Seventies. I've had a few of these caps over the years.
