  1. These stories are the best...the tractors that have been in the family since new. Does the Avery still have it's orignal paint?

I bought a 2006 New Holland TC45A new and plan on keeping it forever as a family heirloom. Have all the original paperwork, photos the day it arrived etc and the tractor is in a climate controlled garage and it get's waxed 3 times per year and I even put the 3M tire protectorant on it. LOL. Only put 45-50 hrs on it per year.

People laugh how I take care of it but 40-50 years from now people will be fighting over it.

I shot these picture today for the Heavy Metal tractor fans. We've been woking in the foothills N of L.A.
    This is a pretty new D8...I think it's a T ?
And the Wheel Loader is a 972, also a pretty new machine. He loads us with two half buckets...and I'm glad...as He's new on that machine. One big bucket full would load the truck, but will also rock your world if he let's it go too quick.

I have a Fordson Dexta with a four cylinder Perkins gas motor, they're supposed to be pretty rare. Also a Case VAC. A tractor is too handy when you have a few acres even if you don't grow crops or animals.

The Avery has had a coat of paint applied at some point but it is in extremely good shape. worst part is the rear rims, the calcium had rusted the rims pretty bad in a few places & we will need to track down replacements. also have to find an exhaust manifold for the hercules.

Grandpa also bought all new implements at the same time (that hung below the belly of the tractor) had a mower, a plow, a blade and a 4 disc cultivator. unfortunately we do not have any of these any more, they were already gone long before anyone thought to keep stuff like that. this is the tractor that both my dad & I learned to drive on when we were kids (40 or so years apart :))

I love tractors. I am a Case IH technician as a profession. We still see quite a few old Farmalls, and many other brads as well come through the shop. I can't get enough of working on them. Of course I have to take the new technology too, but thats the fun part. I see from the beginning to current just about every week.

Can't believe all the chatter on tractors on the HAMB. I knew there was a reason I liked this site so much because of not only the topics on Rods/trucks/bikes/etc. but now tractors too. I Love Farmall's and Johnny Deere's. I like all of them but those are my favorites. I did Auctions for 15-16 years and ran just about everything you could think of including old Cat's, Scrappers, and quite a few different trucks, like Brockway with a Waukesha diesel. All kinds of stuff. Great thread and is something a lot of us "farm boys" can relate too.

Here is a couple of other shots of the Avery.

The wooden stick that you see on the right side of the gas tank is the "gas gauge" :D

Here it is tucked in the shop with a few of the ON topic projects. 47 dodge coach, 39 dodge sedan & coupe (canadian dodges - same as an american plymouth)

Does anybody want to start a Toy Collection -I have about 1000 pieces in 1/64 scale- I like 50`s Customs much better. Dads got a 51 Vicky and a 51 9N Ford - He made an attachable seat and takes his 93 year old Father-in-law on tractor rides. Brad Fuller-- Parked next to you at the hotel in Salina-Mines the black Chevy.

we are into pulling with early 70's IH tractors. We campaign a 966 w/turbo, 1066 and 1466. Do pretty well competing at local fairs, etc. Two kinds of tractor pullers...losers and cheaters. We like to win.

Tom's father has a very extensive collection of IH tractors including many with Hydrostatic drive and quite a few gold colored demonstrator tractors.

Ive rebuilt two IH C's, one Super C and a JD B. didnt get to keep any of them though.

  23. What is so cool about your Avery is it is just generic looking. It has no distinct features like a Farmall, Ford 8N etc. I'm saying this as a good thing. It's look is familiar but not so familiar that it's run of the mill. Your tractor reminds me of every non descript tractor you would see in a typical 50's painting or drawing depicting a caricature of a 50's tractor on a 50's farm...a warm fuzzy feeling of the good old farm days.I'm having a hard time here trying to explain what I mean and feel so bear with me.

  24. That's one serious bumper/tow rig! I need one of them for my 8N

  25. Thanks, I got board one day and cut up the bumper that it came with, and built this one out of it.

    Heres the old one.

I didn't go back and reread this entire thread, but i searched it and didn't find any mention of the Keller collection.

If you like tractors you've gotta see it. Or at least visit online.

Here are the results of googling for it.

It may not be the largest tractor collection in the world (although it might be), but it sure is impressive.
