day 2 dawned sunny and bright in rural ontario. we had a breakfast of cereal andp the hotel coffee, checked the fluids, fired up the 54, and hit the road again. we wanted to make it as far as chicago in time for dinner.

i traveled through ontario once when i was a kid when we made the trip to detroit for my cousin's wedding. they got married in the william and mary chapel. it was august, and the groomsmen all wore tuxes. it was about 100 degrees out, and there i am, a 12 year old, all gussied up in a wool tux with tails in a chapel with the windows painted shut and about 150 candles lit. the poor girl i was to walk back down the aisle with p***ed out, and fell back and hit her head on the piano. she had to be carried out and taken to the hospital for s***ches. all i could think was, "oh man, now i have to walk down the aisle by myself." no sooner did i think it when i started feeling all woozy and sick to my stomach. i fell forward, knocked the unity candle out of the candelabra, and fell backwards into the guy behind me. i came to a few minutes later, sprawled out on the gr*** in front of the church.

so, suffice it to say we hauled through detroit as quickly as possible. (sorry denise) it was a full day. many more miles traveled, many more sights seen. here is some of what we saw.

tim horton's coffee. it's like dunkin donuts coffee for canadians. it ****s, but they consume it like it's crack. awful stuff. oh, and thanks for the $52 fill-up.

My wife almost cursed you for your review of Tim Horton's Coffee until I reminded her who you were and what you've done for our son. She was one of those "Crack" aka Timmy Ho Coffee addicts when we lived up north. They sure did make a mean cup of Hot Cocoa too.

If you go through Buffalo on your way back, do yourself a favor and find a Mighty Taco and get some of that. It's the perfect remedy for 4am munchies!

    Keep the updates coming!

Have fun in Chicago, don't get too close to the Bean, we think aliens put it here, if you turn your back to it they will **** you in. Have a deep dish pizza, a nova lox and toasted onion bagel w/ chive cheese sandwich, a Chicago Dog w/ a Vienna dog and a black and tan. Go have a Dungeness Crab at the half shell at Clark and Diversey, and a dozen blue points, park in the lot across the street. We got food. The Pulaski Ave power plant, Ginos, Ed Debevics, The bumpy ***ed skyway ( Chicagoans never use it, thats for people from Indiana), You missed Lolapalooza, Go to a blues club and catch a legend. Cruise Halsted Street, between North and Belmont, ton of stuff to do lots of peoples to see.

we're staying at lawrence and north hermitage, so we're pretty close to the theaters. when i lived in morris, i used to get into the city a fair bit. i saw ********* ladies play at the riviera. they recorded a live album there.

i got to eat most of the food you're talking about back then. alas, with celiac disease, i dont get to eat nearly as much fun stuff as i used to. a chicago dog isnt the same without the bun...

Sorry about that, no bread or yeast based products? Did you ever do Super Dogs at Devon Milwaukee and Nagle? It used to be the hot place on the northwest side about 25 years ago, not a lot of cars there now, still have the car hops but its lost all the street racers. Good photo foder though, they have the goofy hot dogs on the roof.

  29. Geez, if you're headed through Buffalo, grab a Beef on Weck, some custard and a Loganberry Soda at Anderson's on Sheridan Drive in Amherst, a Hotdog at Ted's, or some Suicide Wings at Duff's (my wife grew up in Buffalo)!

i did eat there. good stuff.

it's gluten based products. wheat, rye, barley. no bread, pasta, or beer...

unless it's based on flours like potato, rice, etc. yeast is fine.

and there's sorghum beer, and rice pasta. so i still get my beer and mac-n-cheese. i just have to make the food myself, mostly. no biggie. when i eat out, i eat at asian places.
