Anyone have pictures of abandoned Drag Cars?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BobG, Jun 10, 2009.

  1. Looks like a Ford Banjo rear axle, Is it a 40 Ford?

old roundy rounder. looks to be 37-38 ford, the little hook on the dash was to hold the shifter in gear so it wouldn't come out while racing. very cool piece! SW guages still intact, that seat is cool too. Guessing the hole in trunk was to fill fuel? let trapped air out?? Light on roof to flat tow it home...

was looking at these photos (again!) and just noticed that center bracket on the dash with the toggle switches. Looks like there's a master cylinder or slave cylinder mounted that's maybe missing the handle now......some kind of early line-lock?

I had a chance to buy "The Missouri Mule" back in the late '70's/early 80's. Didn't do it. What was I thinking? LOL Anyway, I have a video tape of footage shot back in the 60's that has a glimpse of "The Mule" sitting in the pits at a dragstrip, that if I remember correctly was down around Springfield, MO.

  14. Hey Mr Gasser,

Yeah, that's the same car you posted earlier,my dad built it in 1967 and it was originally driven by Coney Island Ralph Landolphi, then Rapid Red Lang and finally Bruce Bohen who had the most success with it.

Two bodies were constructed by Ron Pelligrini from Fiberglass Limited fame,he ran the other car called "Superbird" powered by a Hemi and dad built Ingenue with a 8-71 blown 430 Buick on nitro...still today it remains the world's only Buick-powered Buick F/C.

S/XS was the precursor before F/C became a class.

Thanks for your interest, sounds like you need a Ingenue/Brooklyn Speed & Machine t-shirt and some decals.;) Hope you caught it featured in Hot Rod magazine last year.

About 15 years ago I was in a garage looking at a funny car body and frame.Trying to convince the owner that his idea of converting it to a street car was a bad idea.He wouldnt sell and the house and garage have since been torn down.No idea what ever happened to the flopper. It had no artwork or paint on it so I dont know who may have driven it.No pics, sad to admit. It was southwest of Minneapolis if anyone knows of it.

Eleven years ago I crashed this car. It is the last Logghe altered built. I shoved it in the shed, undecided what to do with it. Last year I got it out and started to rebuild it.

I will run the original 300 Ford inline six in it - hopefully this year.

Are any of these for sale? Especially the midget, some one needs to try to save it. Or is it one of the "I'm gonna fix it up someday" cars?

Crying shame to see that midget treated like that, it looks fairly complete too.
